Hi All,

As of today I am with a titan package. I decided to do a speedtest quick before heading to the office and my latency to jhb server (I am in JHB) is 205ms and dload of 1.10 mbs on a 4mbs line. My IS ISP is 22ms and 3.5mbs. Will post some results later.

Is this the norm with Webafrica?

Caio

This is closer to what the norm is on my Titan account:

Woops that is CT, here is a JHB one.

Did that test just now about 2 min ago.

Though, the big latency increase on Titan accounts are not for local, but international where these accounts will shine.

Interesting.

I wonder whats up in Jhb. I will have to cancel if it continues, I game online a lot with PSN.

I have had a WA Titan account for about 3 weeks now, and it much better than my Afrihost, Axxess, SAINET bandwidth in general. It has had some slower periods, but they are hardly worth mentioning.

Well it's basically impossible to game on PSN with WA to be honest. In a game of MW2 when I use Telkom I get full bars on my 3meg line, whilst if I'm using my WA account, I get between 2 and 3 and it becomes nearly unplayable

Used to have AxxessLite, but I was lucky to get 0.30Mb/s. Now with WA I'm getting my full 4Mb line speed again! No more buffering of youtube and I can watch at 720p :D

Well WA's main network is based in CT, so if you are playing games on local servers you will definitely be better of with IS/SAIX based accounts. If you play games internationally the WA account will be superior.

So by the looks of it you really want a account with a IPC network based in JHB.

Hi KTMQuin

That is definitely not normal. If you continue to get these times please PM me your details and I will get in contact so we can investigate further.
I haven't done extensive PSN testing but will get hold of a PS and load up some games tonight.

@ robdutchmonkey : Any specific games I should test or do you experiencing degraded performance across all games ?

Bad news. Looks like a will have to return to IS then.

Thanks for the reply.

I will send you some more info and detailed tests when I get home this afternoon.

I also have a WA Titan account and have noticed a big increase / downgrade of service over the past week. Its really irritating, i have been praising WA to everyone and now their accounts are also going tits up. I am giving up with our local ISP's they get it right for a month or two and then the service goes out the window

Maybe some specific information as to the degradation of the service would help them to fix whatever is bothering you?
They always seem eager to follow up and help.

I've not noticed anything internationally on my WA Titan package, my ping is pretty much a solid 250ms-300ms to european servers.

Locally i am aware that from gauteng your ping will be in the 50ms-60ms range due to the Cape Town thing mentioned above, where on IS it would be 15ms-30ms .

That said, in a local game, it's hard to notice the diff between 15ms and 60ms. Most people play on 80ms- 100ms pings locally anyway. So 200ms locally definitely sounds like another problem somewhere and is definitely not normal on WA.

In fact, the last pingtest i did looked like this (me being located in Gauteng):
WA: http://www.pingtest.net/result/16312063.png
IS: http://www.pingtest.net/result/16312410.png

I believe this is pretty much what to expect both on WA and IS on a good day. If we can get a Cape Town pingtest server the results will obviously swop around....

These are shocking to say the least.

Here's mine on Titan package , right now (and has been like that pretty much always):

So dunno about you KTM, but looks like you might have other problems.

Hi KTMQuin

Looking at your Speed tests I see the IS one is over a month old. Can I ask you run the same tests now on both accounts to rule out any line issues if possible ?

It is all about perspective. I chucked out Telkom ADSl because I could not adequately maintain 1 MB/s. Then stayed on Vod 3G for 6 months and had to live with the poor latency. Now I am back on the Webafrica Titan and it is like being in heaven, although I do not quite reach some of the speeds mentioned above. But my results have been constant, stable and no issues yet.
