Webafrica Titan Latency

Hi KTMQuin

Looking at your Speed tests I see the IS one is over a month old. Can I ask you run the same tests now on both accounts to rule out any line issues if possible ?

Here is one IS:

Not ideal, but much better. Usually its 3.5 consistantly

(Telkom to JHB)

(WA to JHB)

(WA to CT)

(Telkom to CT)

Now there's no real difference when it comes to the Cape Town server, But the JHB one is really worrying when comparing. This is no problem for browsing, but when it comes to playing codMW2 on PS3, it is. Last night I played for hours using my Telkom account, when I wasn't hosting, I got constant 4 full bars whoever was hosting even if others got 3 bars. International game I got 2 yellow bars and was a good experience. I then hosted for a few hours and the games were basically lag free and most people had full or at least 3 bars besides the few who had bad connections.

However, from experience I know that on my WebAfrica account, if I get chosen to host, everyone complains and after about a minute, it migrates hosts and I get kicked. If I'm not hosting, I get 2 bars. If I'm lucky, I get 3, and that's when a well known host with a great line is hosting and everyone else (even on uncapped accounts) get full bars. I struggle to get kills and it's a really annoying experience. That is why I only ever play when I have Telkom cap left, and only play on my WebAfrica account when I have to for clan matches.

It's only in MW2, don't play much else online.

rob, I have found the same after some online play last night. Titan account seems fast when dloading p2p etc but for local online play its not great. I played some international BC2 and it was great almost zero lag which kicks IS in international latency department. I then joined some local MW2 and could not get any more than 3 bars whereas with my IS account I am always full bars. Catch 22 I guess....

That is not the norm for the Titan accounts. I have tried all the options on offer with multiple lines here in cape town and WA wins hands down. IS is the biggest waste of time you could possibly imagine. Contact WA to get them to sort this out for you. Your slow speeds are defenitly not an indication as to how good this service is.

Well it's basically impossible to game on PSN with WA to be honest. In a game of MW2 when I use Telkom I get full bars on my 3meg line, whilst if I'm using my WA account, I get between 2 and 3 and it becomes nearly unplayable

uhm you know MW2 uses players as servers...so if the dude is america you will get 1 bar...uk 2 bars...if he lives across the street you will get 3 bars...

if you are hosting you will get 4(kidding)

I'm not quite that retarded, I do know what I'm talking about, and I know it uses P2P hosting on consoles since forever... Point is, if I play with locals, I get 4 bars with Telkom, always did with Afrihost too... But with WA I'm lucky to get 3 bars

International

Local

Pingtest

I spoke to someone at WA last night and they said its not their account, wonder why we all having the same problems with thier accounts?

Hi All,

I have played last night with the Titan account, on private local play I receive 4 bars. On international I receive 2 bars, however no real lag. We would like to replicate the issue. Please add me as a friend - my PS3 tag is Joaker1. Pm me your IP address before we play and your Web Africa account username, lets setup a time over the weekend where we can all meet in a room and test to replicate this issue.

Hi KTMQuin can I ask you to run some Trace Routes to a few local servers so we can try and isolate the cause.

Hi Guys

Thanx for all the feedback so far.
I have completed some further tweaking on the Gaming Prioritization earlier this morning. If I can ask that you please retest the PSN for me and provide feedback.

walan, thanks for your help and on going support. I will run the tracert for you later today. Will also do some psn testing.

Yoh, my results are BAAAAAAAAAAAD

Yeah that would be the problem, WA accounts doesn't work so great for people staying in JHB, mostly because they don't have their IPC links JHB but in CT.
