WebAfrica VS. OpenWeb

First thing to check is which network the bandwidth comes from, Openweb might be using IS and WebAfricas standard packages come from SAIX.

SAIX is better for international btw.

I have seen some rumblings about problems with Web Africa recently. Possibly getting to big..

No hands on experience with either though.

OpenWeb Unshaped runs over the Verizon Business backbone, which does NOT make use of any transparent proxies.

Pings are also very low, as we use the SAT3 cable. The Verizon Business network is also not congested, due to the premium price they charge.

*EDIT*
Ah thnx guys for all the info.
Does it also come in " Pre-Paid" with Carry over function ???

MrBEEP ... does openweb have an instant online activation VIA Credid Card ?

If all goes according to plan, the answer to the instant credit card activation system will be yes from end April beginning May :)

I think Verizon unshaped is better than SAIX unshaped. :)
I had both for a month and to be honest I saw little difference. If anything the SAIX gave me slightly better results iirc.

how about having a performance test.

Verizon Unshaped vs SAIX unshaped

I use WA and cannot complain, they are really good. The little interaction I had with OpenWeb has been superb. You won't go wrong with either of these guys - if every company was run like these two, then SA would be a very different place.

One note on OpenWeb, their support centre is closed after hours, AFAIK WA has 24 hour support.

I've been with Web Africa since August 2005. I've originally used their 3GB account but have since switched to the prepaid account.

I recently bought prepaid, unshaped bandwidth for international gaming. Latency to Europe (WC3 servers) is about 200ms, sometimes a little less. To the USA, it's around 250-300ms, I'm not sure of the exact figure as I don't frequent servers there.

I've not had any payment/service issues with WA and they've always responded to my technical issues I have submitted within the hour, which, in South Africa, is simply amazing.

I've even recommended Web Africa to my boss, to use as our ISP at work. I think that says a lot about the reliability of an ISP.

:)

All is going to plan, but we want to make sure that the system is completely secure and ready before we unleash it to our valued clients :)

well i like both

had good service from both webafrica and openweb
keep it up !!!!

thanks Guys
