Webafrica's service is shocking

Why people still sign up with this ISP is beyond me!
They were and may still be the cheapest. Probably many people never need to use the support. But their service is exceptionally bad and they're actively hostile towards long time customers.

I cancelled because they suddenly increased the monthly subscription by nearly 50% in an attempt to coerce me into signing up again, so they could make me subject to their cancellation fee.

Had to use the ISPA to effect a cancellation. They pretended they'd never received the cancellation request. It magically materialised once the complaint was lodged. Same when they demanded the return of a router they'd never supplied.

a lot of people (myself included) get locked into using a certain provider where you stay... now WebAfrica did the same to me, my price for the package I was on was around R400pm more expensive from what they advertsied it... I had been with them for 2 years and didn't notice. Now in order for me to downgrade I would then be liable for the R900 termination fee if I chose to leave them (pathetic and I have never heard of a single company in SA doing this ever) but I had to, so I now save R400pm compared to what I had before.. after 2.5 months I've made back the R900 fee if I decide to quit...

I have my own special WebAfrica story... I left them (with much difficulty) in 2018. Towards the end of last year, I started getting SMSs about closing up my account, and that I needed to pay them for the router I was keeping? Ended up being that they had linked someone else to my account, but it took me 3 weeks of fighting to convince them that I was in fact the wrong person, and that they could not just debit my account (They still had all my details since nothing had changed).
The only way I got through to someone competent ended up being on X, and they managed to resolve everything in 30 minutes after I posted (complained) there

I just noticed the same on my account.

I'm paying R1047 for a 100 Mbps/100Mbps on OpenServe, even though the website says I'm on a 100/100 package that costs R969.

I can "upgrade/downgrade" to a package that costs R819 which is also 100/100Mbps but yes, then there's a R999 termination fee.

Is this what you did?

Just pay the termination fee and move to another service provider.

To beg someone for service... and they bill you every month

Not worth it!
Suggestions to who I should move to? The discussion I'm having with the agent in WhatsApp is beginning to boil my blood.

if you are in Cape Town & surrounds there seems to be a clear leader currently ... https://www.atomicaccess.co.za/

I just made the switch and can vouch for exemplary service so far:
- signed up on Good Friday, got a human response to all my questions on the same day
- fiber installed on the very next working day (i.e. yesterday)
- router delivered today and fiber got provisioned today as well, here's my results:

I'm with openserve. I wasn't aware any ISP on Openserve is regional?
