Is anyone here familiar with Webmail?

I am trying to set up a webmail account so I can access my Gmail locally.

I created the webmail account.

I set my gmail to be checked by POP access

Now I am trying to configure webmail to show the same name next to my email as gmail does, but there is no option to do this - it only wants to show my full name.

I also want to set my default return address in Webmail to my gmail address, but I can't find anywhere to do this?

Am I missing something? or I webmail just too simple to have these configuration options.

I figured if I could do this then I can send mail from webmail and have it return to my gmail, and then check my webmail and have it download my gmail, even though I am on local only access.

any other suggestions?

I have given up on webmail.co.za. Their reliability has been abysmal over the past few years. Gmail puts their level of functionality to shame.

Yah... I hear you... I was hoping to find a way to get access to my gmail locally by using their interface... but it was a pipe dream! :(

You need to find a local web host and sign up for a domain, make sure the traffic is local and not international, then you need to configure within the control panel to check your gmail account and you download it via Outlook or something similar.

It's just a thought, I think it's possible, someone correct if I'm wrong however ;)

Look here:

Edit: yip, it's possible with Webafrica, they've got a service called Catchall, to get the mail ;)

Yah... that was my second option... will find a really cheap local host.

I see with the Webafrica local package on Linux it's 70cents per megabyte for extra storage, which I think isn't such a bad price if you think about it. Get yourself about 50mb of storage and you should be set, people don't usually send attachments larger than 5mb in any case ;)

Which package are you looking at. I must be reading it wrong... it looks to me like their minimum package with e-mail is R100 a month.

Doh!!!

wth am I thinking... WebAfrica is already my ISP... I already have access to e-mail with them... I just have to configure it! :p

*** slaps himself upside the head ***

i started using webmail about 6 or seven years ago and it has changed a little over the years but not all for the good, i must add.

ok... I think I got it working...

I set up my gmail with filters to only forward the messages I want to see to my Webafrica account...

and I set up my Webafrica account with a reply to address same as my Gmail.

so now I can access that part of gmail locally only. :)

I have finally had enough of Webmail. They have been more down this week than up!

Can anyone tell me how to have all my webmail emails sent to my gmail account?

Will be useful until people learn that I have changed addresses...

hmmm... does webmail support pop mail or imap? Or can you set it to forward everything to gmail? I dunno how you are gonna get all your old mail there though, short of sending them one at a time.

Webmail seems to support the fetching of other POP mail but not the forwarding of it. :(

Try this:

mail.webmail.co.za or it's equivalent eg. starmail thepub etc.

You would have to enter your username and password in gmail however ;)

Where in gmail do I do this though? I can only find links for forwarding mail from gmail, not fetching to it...

I see gmail has a gmail mail fetcher, but it's not in any of my gmail accounts either:

Send a email to gmail and ask them to enable it, Google is messing with me today, Gmail is slow and I can't open the links.

Try to contact them here:
