Wow, the ANC is culling jobs in this country at a rate of knots. I wonder if the jobless and destitute masses know what prosperity these data centres may have brought this country. But once again greed and incompetence overwhelm.
How many jobs were lost as a result of this move?

Hehehehe - I LOL at ADSL users that are still stuck with Nationet. You guys should really get Internet - its awesome.
Apartheid did not work for people - nor will it work for bandwidth.

There is no competitive edge to their business now, and the user experience has always been distasteful.

I relegated my Webmail account to a glorified spam filter, and now I use Gmail for that too.

I don't understand why they did this now. Bandwidth prices are dropping. After all of the years of high prices, they do it now. puzzling.

Webmail? Was that the one with all the irrelevant, intrusive adverts. If so I doubt this move will affect many people

EPIC fail, but for local, at least there is still mail24

I found out about this the hard way a few months back when all of a sudden mail would not download when on local cap. At first I kept thinking it was problems with the servers, but after some tests I realised that it was because they had moved.

Last month it really irked my dad when we got capped and he couldn't access his mail. While I understand that it is probably for lower costs, it would have been nice if Webmail had bothered to tell us about it...

fail!! now all those users can move to gmail. only reason I see to use webmail was cause it was local.

My gmail account checks both my old webmail accounts. Anyway mostly used webmail thru Outlook Express in the day, so avoided that annoying floating ad on the webpage. Gmail also filters out their directmail advertising.

Adsl penetration is hardly significant to affect many "local only" users. Sure it will irk some, but not enough to make "staying local" cost effective.
