Hi guys

I log into my account on www.Texo.co.za and all is fine.

How do I access the SiteBuilder pro from there on in ? I click on my domain and it takes me to the admin page. With the following on it:

Index of

.cgi-bin/

I click on it and get an error 404. I'm a noob at this so pls be gentle :p

Does this mean I need to create an FTP first ?

Use a website editing application, or Notepad :p, then use ftp to transfer the site.
I don't think you'll have to much luck using the supplied online editors.

K so I download the opensource FTP tool. and install it.
Build my site on that FTP and upload it how ? Sorry for this retarded questions :o I can downloade dreamweave I guess to use instead

if you dont come right and are looking for an easy to use web builder you can try macromedia fireworks. it is far simplier and more diverse then dreamweaver, even a 10 year old can operate it and it supports virtualy every format out there.

If you are new to building a web page , in fact any web page please do look up css and html on the w3c schools site.

It is probably arrogant for me to say this but when users start thinking anyone can build web sites they are wrong, it takes time and dedication to build good web sites and no time to build rubbish ones.

I assume you want to build something nice? The simple rule is to start with pencil and paper, hash out your ideas on good old fashioned paper and pencil. get the design right before you put it to pc in any form and remember that search engines cannot see images at all.

There is a good reason web designer and developers charge what they do, it takes a lot of time to do it right.

You can buy template designs and put your own words in, your simplest answer is to upload wordpress and then pick a design from the thousands out there.

Once you have a handle on the php and css/html then you can start to take your time to build a customised theme. The time to completion for a professional can be from six weeks to a year depending on the complexity of what the user/clients want.

if you are using cpanel you will need to set up a database user and password, upload the files to the /root of your server and then put in the full url and the install instructions for wordpress are quite extensive. The installation couldn't be easier.

go to your control panel. i have just signed up with them and there service is amazing. let me know if you need futher information and if you have skype or msn then will talk on there it is easier to explain

a year ?

average website shouldn't take long than a month for a beginner, about 2 weeks for a professional if it includes complications.

A year is bull :)
A friend of mine was on the 3-man development team for the Edgars site (doing programming for back-end) and it took them under 2 months to do it on a part-time basis.

Most general sites with back end will take about 2 weeks maximum. The average Joe's website with some nice things shouldn't take longer than this.

Pitbull, everything you need is available on the cpanel backend for your website (www.pitbull.co.za/cpanel). If you don't manage, ask the guys at Texo, they have always helped me in under an hour.

K now they are offline :(

Can someone tell me what is wrong with my template. Trying to import it and get this error:

Error, Expecting folder after extracting blue_internet_2.zip is incorrect.
Ex. file name blue_internet_2.zip extract folder is blue_internet_2 to correct

Email them (I always use email, not the live support).
No idea about the templates. I always build my own sites from scratch.

I got just about most of it working. I used one of their templates to create a Website under construction thingy going :D

I wanted to upload another template blue_internet_2.zip but it gives me some root error but that seems to be PV (v3.23) specific another guy used the same template without any problems using a different Website builder. I'm just struggling my little arse off :p

How is this so far ?

The website builder gives me an error about blue_internet_2.zip should reslove as blue_internet_2 and it shows the root file directory. Just very strange... I think I'll try another builder maybe and not use the free inclusive one.

oo nice

I like this one :o

Will give it a shot over the weekend. I'm new to this so i'm learning as I go along :p

Cool! They have some really professional looking sites, biggest challenge is getting the template into a header and footer, so that php can populate it easily per page.

Then each page simply becomes <?php include 'header.php'; echo 'Body goes here'; ?>
