Yeah, also the top-ups look overpriced compared to Cell C top-ups:

- 100MB for R50
- 250MB for R100 comapred to Webstorm's R150
- 500MB for R150 comapred to Webstorm's R300
- 1.2GB for R250 compared to Webstorm's R600 for 1GB
- 3GB for R400
 
Website being corrected. the /Month will now read: Once Off.
 
The CellC offer is also without a modem. However, the will give an option that includes a modem ( naturally at a different price )

Webstorm will be able to offer some modems at R550 incl VAT but they are on order and the offer was really aimed at thos who either have hardware already or wants to shop for a suitable modem at the best price they can get.
 
The proof is in the pudding. Perhaps, now that it is out in the open, someone will comment on the product once they have actually used it?

Check out the T&C's on the downloaded subscriber agreement.

Oh yes, the website is now correct, it is in fact a once off payment and not a monthly recurring payment !

Correct, the top ups are at R0.60/Mb and perhaps, if you think about it, this may sustain the availability of the offering ?

If the sustainability of this offering depends on selling top up bundles your business model is an EPIC FAIL. If anyone runs out of his bundle he will buy a top up bundle direct from Vodacom or from Cell C. Anyone buying a top up bundle at this price is daft.

I was very tempted to buy a bundle for someone who lives in an area not yet covered by WHOOOSH, but what guarantee do I have that this offer is legitimate? VodacomData's silence worries me!

Firstly, top up prices are not the sole basis for sustainability but may well contribute.

Your concern about Vodacom is legit. I know that Mybroadband has been in touch with Vodacom to confirm this and can only suggest you give the red tape a day or so to respond. I suspect that there will be a news story on the site shortly as this offer ( or at least the part considered as good ) is newsworthy. To the best of my knowledge, the ISP launching this is the only channel where you can get this from ( for now? ). The mere fact that you considered the offer is appreciated and I trust that your concerns will be adequately addressed.
 
Quick question, what exactly would you be buying to give you the cap? A sim card, a vodacom sim card, a custom sim card or something else?

edit: Nvm, according to the website it's a new data only Vodacom sim or can use existing one.

Webstorm will issue you with a normal or Micro sim ( data only ) or.... if you have an active sim that you obtained directly fro Vodacom or from Webstorm, the bundle can be activated on that ( you will need to change APN settings ) - vodacom sims that come from the likes of Nashua Mobile and others will not work

Just to clarify: ....... If you load the package on an existing sim ( as above ), the voice will still work vs getting a "data only" sim from Webstorm.

Does it matter if your existing sim is contract or prepaid?

Also is it possible to buy it once off with a bank deposit/cash.
Don't want a debit order nor topups or any possible extra charges.
 
I am very tempted, but what is this nonsense? My B970 router does not support UMTS 900Mhz. :( (taken from their terms and conditions)

MODEM

We recommend that you use the data SIM with a Vodacom and/or Webstorm approved USB Modem. If you choose to use another modem
please ensure that it is capable of UMTS 900MHz. In addition, to achieve the highest possible speed, your modem should support HSPA+.
Where there is a need for the sim to be used by multiple PC's or devices concurrently, an appropriate 3G/HSDPA Router will be required.
