Nop, Just the light schedule because courtyard.Dude is this an autoflower? It shouldnt flower already.
Hi all. I'm new here, so not sure if already been asked.
I'm looking at trying Non-circulating Hydro method (kratky method) for an outdoor grow.
My only concern is the heat, worried pot/water reservoir will get super heated in the day and dry the roots?
Anyone with experience using this method specifically outdoors or ideas how to manage the heat.
I'm using autoflower seed, and my understanding is they don't need as much light, so based on that thought about positioning them to get morning sun and shade in the afternoon to avoid the +30° direct sun.
Any ideas or tips would be great. Don't want my R100 beans turning into compost!
Just stick to the basics in your first grow, go 70% coco 30% perlite, handful of calcium(lime),fabric pot and you will be set for a decent autoflower.Dont use payed beans to test things on , perfect your technique with bagseed.
Thanks will try themCould try Trichoma. If you’re in pta/jhb delivery would be R50 - R80. Otherwise it’s like R120 I think.
Anyone know where to buy seeds that dont ask an arm and a leg for delivery. Was gonna purchase seeds from Pachamama but when I got to checkout I saw their delivery is R170. Which is crazy. I won't pay that. Between main centers delivery should be no more than R85.
If you can add a temp and humidity sensor aswell as a soil moisture, soil ph sensor and have the ability to do 2 way coms with that let me know![]()
All is in the box, humidity, temp and soil moisture. You can add a ph device as well wifi to tell you what's going on
Hey Bradobro. I’m no expert and I’m personally using a DWC method with airstones and indoor setup but from the many hours of online research I can maybe provide just a little insight and welcome anyone to correct or comment on my opinion.
I don’t think you need to worry about your roots getting dried up as long as there is water in your container if you’re using the kratky method. You’re basically just doing what I’m doing minus the indoors and airstones.
My only concern is that the heat may cause your water in the container to get too hot and without airstones creating enough aeration to fend off bad bacteria you may be at risk of causing root rot if you are not adding additives to prevent that. Heat + little aeration + light leaks in the container can be a breeding ground for bad bacteria.
I’m also interested to know why you would want to avoid the direct sunlight apart from the heat concern?
Anyways that’s all that comes to mind for me. I’m interested to read what the others say.
Listened to the guys that were involved in the Prince case that lead to the recent constitutional ruling. What I took away mostly from them was the definition of “private use” and how not to look like you’re cultivating marijuana for anything else than private use. At the end of the day, a cop decides on the spot whether you “look” like you cultivate to sell. If you are taken in, and you genuinely do not sell your stash, you’ll be ok. Doesn’t stop the cops from wrecking your setup but you won’t end up in jail. So there’s that.
Factors they will look at are how many plants (there is no set limit yet) but if you have six plants you have a better case than say twenty plants to yourself.
Another factor is how you store it. If you have a few filled mason jars vs fifty 5g bankies. Store your stash in bulk vs many small containers to make the case that you store in bulk for private use as opposed to many containers because that could justify distribution.
Another interesting thing the attorney said was how you yourself appear to the police when they are at your door. Don't panic, don't appear overtly nervous as though you're about to be "caught". If you are growing a respectable amount of plants (I personally have three) and you are genuinely only growing for yourself and possibly share with friends or family without the transaction of money and consume your marijuana in private, you are well within the current scope of the law and you should act as such. The police are to make the call at that moment whether you are or not growing solely for private use. Be respectable, if they ask to see your grow, show them. Maybe even describe to them how everything works. Hell, maybe even ask if they want to spark up with you
At the end of the day, if the cop wants to mess with you and take you in anyways, the worst thing to happen will be that you go to the magistrates court, you make your case using the above factors, and you will more than likely have any charges dropped. There's no guarantee what will happen to your grow though, but you will not go to jail and you will not have a record. In fact, if it happens to you, your case will further strengthen any other similar cases in the future.
We're still very much on the fringe of things, so keep that in mind. We are still a solid year or so away from legislation being properly introduced, so keep things reasonable and don't risk anything. Keep lekkeh
I hadn't actually considered that
I suppose whether growing indoor with grow equipment or outdoor with pots and soil, either can be bought legally in the commercial market, so in my opinion it shouldn't matter too much, in court at least. Probably easier to convince a cop that knows nothing that an outdoor grow is more legit than a fancy indoor grow. The irony though is that your indoor grow is less likely to be seen by a snoopy neighbour than your plants in a pot outside
At the end of the day, it's whether you're dealing or not.
I think a good rule of thumb is just don't do illegal things and you won't get in trouble![]()
Those are some happy plants! Good luck with the grow![]()
