Ok - so awhile back I started gym with a personal trainer - this was a complete failure, as the personal trainer kept cancelling paid for sessions - in six months I probably gained 3kg.

I truly shocking experience, he would SMS at early hours of the morning, just after I'd gotten up and had a cup of coffee with some emergency as to why he couldn't make it.... gave up on that idea.

Now my challenge is to do it by myself, starting at square -3 (considering I've put on weight since that thread).

I currently weight 115kg (1.87m) - I'm not overly fat - as I am generally quite big 'boned'.

I want to be as close to 90kg as possible with the lowest % of body fat as possible without sacrificing muscle by 1 November.

I started exercising at Virgin Active three weeks ago, but have been taking it easy as not to hurt myself - currently rowing 5km, cycling 10km, and jogging 2km everyday.

At the end of next week I plan on adding a 1km swim....

Think I'll make the deadline?

If you eat right, yes.

A mate of mine dropped 5 kilos in two weeks with light cardio and a healthy dieet (note not starve yourself).

Yeh, diet change comes next week :( Currently munching popcorn...

Going to go for a relativity high protein diet, lowish fat and carbs... I'm a bit scared I sacrifice muscle with all the cardio...

Would like to start weight training again, but I've never weight trained in a large gym such as Virgin Active, always only done it in small private gyms - so a bit nervous of all the people around me...

From personal experience, most people in a gym are not too concerned with others - just focusing on their own workouts.

Yeh, but you get gym etiquette - not worried about people looking at me. :D

I know to wipe down my equipment... but am lost as to weight training etiquette in big gyms, i.e. hogging machines, using dumbbells, etc.

also need to find a weight training buddy around here - I'm a fan of heavy weights, low reps - except by myself I'm going to get stuck.

It is possible. When I went to London, I lost 10kg's in 6 months by eating less (I was too lazy to cook...lol) and by walking everyday to the tube. Other than that, I sat around on my butt and just had smaller portions of everything.

So there was no exercise and I still ate junk food twice a week. Like I said. The secret is smaller portions.

Screw them. Get a program and just do it. If someone is in the gym to check out other guys he is gay.

Oogling the ladies is good though :p:D

You two a bit slow? Losing the 20kgs as in losing the extra weight as in losing the GF... 20kgs would be anorexic (seriously :p).

I wanna lose my beer belly - without giving up on beer.

Possible? :P

Serious? I was thinking of adding a home routine anyways :)

Just a note - I do want to do this the healthy way... otherwise I'm just going to put it on again.

I do that one.
You don't lose weight fast, but it'll get you pretty fit, you'll see after a couple of weeks.
And it doesn't cost money.

Remember it's winter, so not easy to lose weight now.

Beer doesn't make you fat mate ;)

Its the food that you eat while drinking beer that does. The body more readily stores nutrition as fat while under the influence of alch.

I never mix my beer with food :/ Beer must do something alone?
