Weight Loss Thread 2014

Hey guys, to those Banting or on Paleo diet. Need some input here. I make the nut muesli with full cream Greek yogurt and 2 boiled eggs for breakfast. I have this every day during the week, and on weekend I have a salmon and cream cheese omlette to vary it up a little.

The muesli and boiled eggs are quick to organise in the morning as time is an issue etc, so I need something I can have quickly and takes little prep time. But...I am really get tired of the same thing now...especially the eggs :(

What else are you guys doing for breakfasts?

Egg muffins?

Last night was 500 calories over my limit. And had a normal coke.

Will make it up today.

It's all a tradeoff. I don't take sugar/sweeteners in most things I have. You can take the side-effects of Xylitol, the after taste of Stevia, or use sugar and up your insulin.

I'm moving in the direction of using different sweeteners for different purposes. Stevia and Xylitol for baking (Xylitol seems to work better, although I'm still trying to get the balance right in terms of quantities as it's not as straight forward as a simple substitution which some recipes seem to indicate it is.

As mentioned earlier Xylitol and my stomach don't get along well when used as a straight sugar substitute in coffee/tea (I don't seem to be building up tolerance, it looks like I can handle a max of 4 teaspoons a day), so after much experimentation I've settled on Natreen for coffee/tea (in the last week or so I've dropped from 2 per cup to 1), I find Natreen has virtually no residual aftertaste as many of the other sweeteners do.

I have one rare 'treat', and that's a disgustorable Monster Zero energy Drink.

I am unlikely to ever have two a month (if even), but am just curious if there's anything terrible in there. :D

It's amazing how sweet that stuff tastes after a month of no sugar.

It gives me a hell of a boost for sure.

This stuff made me so sick the last time I had it. I about went into a 3 day coma...

Each to his own.

I personally never liked Red Bull or anything like that. My body just doesn't seem to agree with it. Never get the high it is suppose to give you. I actually felt very tired soon after I consumed a can.

Me too - it makes me super sleepy

Well, I'm pretty sure if I had a sugar-loaded drink it would do the same to me.

Indeed. Which is why I said each to his own.

I know people that love the stuff and drink it 3 to 4 times a week. It works for them and obviously for millions of other people. Otherwise it would be off the market pretty quickly.

Just doesn't work for me. I on the other hand liked to buy a tin of that Caramel Treat. And I ate a can like that over the course of 2 weeks or so. Sometimes 1 week.

So just now I was feeling incredible light headed and faint so I decided to go eat. It then dawned on me that this morning my eye captured two glistening bananas which I devoured before even making coffee.... and that is why I like low-carb - being able to function perfectly well all day even if I forget to eat.

I know.. I are once yesterday. I got mildly hungry in the evening, but I had some water which was with me and it passed. So I forgot to eat.

They glistened, and they might have even asked me to eat them. I dunno, it's been months since I last had a banana - something possessed me!

Maybe your body needs potassium.

Don't have my real meal revolution book handy now and can't remember.

Soy sauce with stirfry. Yes or no?
