Maybe I should... I've actually been lus to start swimming again. In fact, I think I should make it my goal to do an open water swim before the end of the year :)

I dreamed of hamburgers last night. :wtf:

Oh, and I felt a bit crap after eating four slices of the Revolution Bread yesterday, I wonder why?

Ok so I was eating too little. Point taken OMB

Had a piece of fried hake with minimal batter for lunch. No chips etc.

Only 9 gr of carbs
300 calories

Restarted my diet efforts yesterday. Going low carb.. no sugar.

Currently on about 95kg.. slightly less than 1.7 m tall.. Have been putting on weight consistently over the last few years.

My goal is 75kg.

First thing I have to change is my habit of skipping breakfast.

dude, the benefit of LCHF is that it's not calorie restrictive, you don't have to limit your calories at all and you'll still lose weight

Please go ahead and eat in excess of say...5000 calories a day on LCHF and report back on your statement.

In fact if possible please point me to study where this was tested.

I think it may be a case of LCHF being self-restricting? I.e. it makes you feel fuller quicker, you can only eat so much fat before you can't go on? Just speculating here.

This link will be a good place to start looking for such a study: http://authoritynutrition.com/23-studies-on-low-carb-and-low-fat-diets/

I agree. Being high fat you feel a lot fuller quicker and don't get cravings. By extension most people can just eat without counting calories and they will by default eat an average amount. That coupled with ketosis will result in great fat loss results.

IIT you cannot question LCHF, I mentioned cholesterol once and I was branded a heretic :D

I'm cutting carbs though but also minimising on the fat intake trying to operate at a caloric deficit.

I get cringes when they post their bacon and eggs, refried in bacon and then dipped in butter meals, but if it works more power to them.

I have no doubt in my mind that it works. In fact it has been proven over and over that a ketogenic eating plan is highly effective. So by that standard the bacon and eggs and yummy butter is all good. I have no problems with that.

I have also cut carbs - only keep oats, sweet potato and what I get from my veggies - while taking in a good dose of EFA's a day with high protein. I've shed about 7kg since start of the year with muscle added on. Dropped 5% of bodyfat.

One can go about weight loss in MANY different ways. It's just about what works for you. I also work off of a calorie limit. It's what works for me.

I thought unrestricted calories was basically the downfall of the Atkin's Diet?
People were still getting fat following Atkins (LCHF), but probably due to over-eating.

With ANY diet, you have to make sure that you eat at a calorie deficit, otherwise you WILL NOT lose weight (excluding exercise).
