Weight Loss Thread 2014

Hey hey

Big high five!

Colour me impressed. Congrats !!!

You are now at the target weight I am aiming to be end of July.

I have also come to realise that the cheating taste-reward comes at too higher discomfort price... well almost all... damned infernal chocolate is my exception.

Tempted no more am I by pizza or bread or pasta etc. Just not worth the almost instant crash and discomfort that follows.

Thanks! I'm sure you'll get there by July. I've found some 90% Lindt (also had 70% and 85%) at our local PnP, had a slab on the weekend. :o Better than that sweet Cadbury stuff! :p

I must try making a pizza base out of the carb free pancake batter, might prevent that crash...

Well done plasma guy!! :D
I recon cheat days are important to still be able to feel like a normal person sometimes.

True. The diet gets a bit boring after a while if you're not wanting to keep cooking a lot. The cheat, although I crashed, was quite refreshing.

Ok usually:

Black coffee, 2 eggs, some bacon. Maybe a dark choccie.

Some nuts (ok more than some) or maybe a banana or an apple but mostly nuts.

1 or 2 eggs / 1/2 or full smoked chicken breast / 1/2 tin of tuna with avo oil and maybe some veggies depending on how lazy I am.
Coffee + dark choccie. Always.

More nuts or biltong if I get hungry. Usually end up with stomach ache after the biltong. :D

Repeat of lunch, usually with more veggies.

Recently I've been looking for ways to add calories (recovering from injury and I'd like to be back to normal ASAP), I don't normally eat dairy but lately it's been in the picture after I had this wicked idea

Ingredients
1 tub mascarpone cheese
1 bar Lindt 90%

Method
1) Open packaging
2) Dip chocolate in cheese
3) YUM

This scores well for ease-of-preparation too ;)

You could try other full-fat cheeses too I guess (chocolate optional. Or maybe not, since it's you :p).

you will notice a massive increase in your core temperature as your body is forced to burn up the extra carbs because it cannot store them. If you feel very uncomfortable and hot and sweaty you know you have done it right!

Interesting, I've experienced this nightly overheating many times but figured it was just because I'd eaten too much.

Does bunny shaped chocolate count as animal fat? :(

OMW ... I snorted coffee.

73.6.

I've really kicked 74's ass.

Woooohooo ! Congrats !!

Ta... off to PnP I bounce ... 90% Lindt is worth leaving my office chair for.

I don't really want to eat dairy but I've been considering reintroducing it so it could work. I saw woolies has chocolate cream cheese :erm: but haven't gotten as far as checking what is inside it or tasting it actually...
Thanks :D

My wife works with Belgian couverture which is normally around 75-85%
Still I avoid anything sweet these days because its easier to totally abstain than to have little bits.

I feel like I'm bent over a barrel typing this but that was the normal price less than 6 months ago. Special then was R20. That was special, this is insulting.

Someone doesn't know what a special is
Where are the days of paying R19 for a slab?

yeah I know, R/Euro weakness and all that, even if the Rand improves I doubt we'll ever see it below R30 again

I came across this thread today, which is a happy coincidence, as I have decided that I need to lose weight and change my lifestyle to get back at least some energy and interest in life.

I haven't bothered reading the whole thread, just skimmed the last few pages, and it seems everyone is on the LCHF type of eating plan. I was under the impression that that plan is not to be followed universally, but will only suit certain people. Are there some who frequent the thread who are using different strategies? Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem if the focus is purely LCHF, as that is what I believe will work for me, and that is what I am trying. I just need to decide whether I will just not replace any carbs in my cupboard or whether I will throw them all out and get going overnight.

Oh, and reading the weights you guys are and are aiming for is a little intimidating - it seems you're a skinny bunch...

Anyone can, barring existing health complications. But since everyone is different, you get different results.

Depends on what type of carbs they are. Although.. If they're the type that are stored in the cupboard, it's probably best to bin them :D

Haha, ya there are some wee people on here but not all of us are like that.

at the rate copa is going he'll soon be dancing in the shower just to get wet :p

Just a thought for everyone and it's something that I haven't focused on much in the thread but just a little mental trick (because the mind is a tricky thing)...

stop thinking and talking about losing weight, rather think and talk in terms of shedding, it may sound strange but think about your mental conditioning and programming around loss, what's your first impulse when you lose something?
