Weight Loss Thread 2014

I can't say that I have had any cravings for Carbs at all...

But I have enjoyed the odd sweet thing or potato salad at a braai. Probably 3 times total the last few months.

Apart from that I am not even tempted to buy or indulge in anything.

You'll be fine Copa. Might feel like crap because of the Carbs but you won't see any significant change in weight or fat because of this one indulgence.

Guys I had a lot of carbs today....Quite a bit of rice, and then came the popcorn...

Oh well, its me and gym tomorrow, or sunday (provided they not closed).

Eish ... you are not alone in this carb craving thing. I have too.

I have really gone off the deep-end these past few days... from potato bake and pasta to rye-bread toasties.

Yeeeeeeps!

I blame the change of season... that is what it must be.

It was not carb craving, it was just me being absolutely unmotivated to prepare or go find food somewhere. So, I phoned a pizza joint...

I'm having carbs for the first time since I started this whole gig.

One ****up is okay, I hope.

Lol you can't avoid carbs all the time :D I had peanut butter on toast due to the craving :( I mean I once basically lived on toast

Guys, a question, I'm assisting someone with losing weight and going to do this Tim Noakes thing. Will it work to just follow whatever the book says? Also, can I follow the same diet as I do not need to lose weight?

In short yes and yes

Thank you, going shopping is there a basic sort of ingredient list that one needs?

The book gives you guidelines in terms of a green, orange and red list, green being preferable, orange in moderation and red steer clear of.

The basic rule of thumb when buying is really to read the food info on the labels and beware of hidden carbs, so generally stay clear of low fat/no fat anything as sugar is substituted for the fat

If you haven't got the book then let us know and we'll give you more detailed guidelines

Just a quick question for anyone that's on LCHF/P: When reading food labels in SA, do you subtract the fibre from the Carbohydrate content, or has it already been subtracted?

Good question, I'm not sure what the answer is but I tend to focus on the carb content without worrying about fibre as fibre is generally indigestible anyway

Any replacement for bread that you guys can recommend?

I am trying to replace my breakfast with:

Jungle Energy Crunch
Yoghurt
and Banana.

All blended.

Are you allergic to gluten? Musli is better than bread but it is still a lot of carbs.

I wouldn't really say that it's an allergy, I just don't have a better word for it. Example, If I eat a pie now, I wouldn't have the "want" to eat for the rest of the day because the butter in the crust and whatever ingredients would make me feel...sick to the point where I don't want to eat.

I can take Gluten.

I found that very bland food does not give me this problem.
