Just poking questions about rice. There are millions of people in Asia that use as their staple YET they are slim and trim.
Is this maybe a secretly good carb? Maybe something to do with volume versus density?

typically Asian rice is a lot less refined than the rice we eat, and there's also a lot less sugar in the Oriental diet compared to the Western diet although this is changing, also whilst Asians may not necessarily have the obesity problems we have in the west they do have a much higher incidence of diabetes which may be reflective of huge carb consumption through rice (I haven't researched this enough though to have any conclusive evidence, just a hunch of mine).
