Weight loss

I bought my own stuff. Have a bench, set of dumbells, Barbell and pull up bar.

No queues in my flat ^_^

haha I hardly have space to keep my two 1kg dumbbells :D
But I don't go to the gym...
At least my skipping rope can hang on my scarf rack and I use my exercise bike to store my clothes on now and then :D

Had to skip my run this am cos all the treadmills were occupied

And by all I mean the 3 that my small town gym has :(

Haha. Exercise bike as a clothes rack sounds familiar. I can't motivate myself to do my workout at home, the couch looks too inviting.

Just force yourself to get into the routine. Sooner or later you'll be lying on the couch and itching to work out :)

Its all good, I go to gym everyday just to get away from my roommates. They do my head in with all their talking so that's motivation enough to get me out of the house. Gym is me time.

I did 5 x 5 for a while, you adding in some isolation excercises? It doesn't really adapt well to a diet setup though. For the strength to really perform in 5 x 5 you need to eat like a machine

Just been at it a few weeks now so will be adding isolation exercises in a few weeks. My goal is basically the "athletic skinny" from that pic you posted so not really focused on strength. Maybe as I get more into 5x5 my goals will change.

What compound exercises are you doing? And what size weights?

Did an evening run yesterday at about 7:15pm. 4km in 30min. Slow, but getting there.

Its about the same as me -

Although I do walk/run

Average speed: 11min52/ 2.2km
Fastest Speed over 100 meters: 7min24/ 2.2km

Average Pace: 11.53km/h
Max Pace: 18.75km/h

Busy on C25K

Squats, deadlifts, bench-press, bent-over rows, over-head press.

My weights are light so not even going to mention them :o

No worries. I just need some new compound moves. I usually do 2 sets of 15 reps with 3kg dumbbells, but I'm going to give 5x5 a try.

That's not slow :erm:
It feels slow at times, but speed is not my main focus. I just want to run consistently for 3 months then maybe after about a year I can try and speed things up.

I did a similar program when I first started out but mine was aimed at getting you running for 30 minutes without stopping and it took about 4 weeks.

Yeah this one does the same - eventually it gets you running for 5km - then moves onto 5 - 10km.

Then 10km+

My calves are giving me major uphill, they're giving out long before anything else, but still making progress.

I'm working on doing 5km in 30 minutes but still have a long way to go.. My mom always says "Bietjie bietjie maak baie" :D

My body is fine but lungs can't take it
