Fat loss/ Muscle gain challenge thread

I will do what I can to organise a prize for the winner - prob a R300 gift voucher or something equivalent additionally Lived666 has kindly offered to sponsor an Omron Body Fat analyzer to the winner.

I am getting back onto the weight loss/healthy eating road after gaining 6kgs of fat round my midsection. [my scale says I am at 23% BF]

Whats the possibility of a group of us starting a competition say between now and December - a weight loss/ exercise challenge?

Maybe issue some sort of prize/honorific title to the winner.

I'll join :D Would like to lose a kg or 2.

The fat part was implied - no one deliberately loses lean muscle mass - well 99.99% of people don't

Yes but judging by the clear amount of fat people out there sometimes additional motivation for a kick start is good

True, I suppose. The only other decent fitness thread here is the bodybuilding one though, and those guys are trying to put on mass rather than losing it :D
 
Not my scene, but I recently learned something that might be of use to someone: You need about 500 calories shortfall in calorie intake vs usage per day to burn 2 kg in fat per month. So in OPs case that would mean running about 5km a day extra or just cutting down intake. Very broadly of course.

eh forgot to mention those are real calories.

1000 real calories (scientific) = 1 food/dietary calorie = 1 kj

lol I'm not at risk of dying yet. But for the morbidly obese - yes that'd be a great payoff

Lol, thank goodness for being in shape.
I just frown on over weight people now because I put the work in and lost loads of weight.
Not that I was ever fat.
But now I play loads of sport and eat very well.
The difference is like night and day.
