Weight loss

To gain weight, whether it be muscle or fat a surplus must be eaten

are you still working on the principle of calories in with this statement, in other words the more calories you take in the more weight you'll gain unless you exercise?

Well I am avoiding using the term Calorie as you disagree with its usage - although I maintain its a good benchmark.

Lets make the term "energy"

Do you disagree one must consume more energy than they expend in order to gain fat/muscle?

hmmm, ok now that you've phrased it like that, it puts a different spin on things, I'll have to get back to you on this a bit later if a I get a chance, got a presentation that I need to finish in prep for a workshop tomorrow :)

However, I do like the fact that you're referring to energy as opposed to calorie, it's much more relevant in terms of nutrition :)

Work is exactly the reason I'm in this boat..and my love for McDonalds.
Sitting 8 hours of the day really helps put on the pounds.

That's for sure!
And also compulsory social teatime with biscuits. :(

Hahaha awesome.

I'm pretty lucky we have a pretty good canteen that offers healthy nutritious meals.

Today had, scrambled egg, beans and mushroom for breakfast.

Vegetable curry for lunch

Chicken and peas for dinner.

You canteen serves brekkie, lunch and dinner?

Plus rub it in bastid!

Haha no dinner I made myself - although we have 5 "Main lunches" to choose from so could take home

That's healthy.. The "healthy" lunch meal at the canteen yesterday was fried-chicken,roasted potatoe and mash. :erm: Breakfast being bacon, toast, eggs and pork bangers.
Sticking to smoothies is cheaper and mildly healthier.

We don't have a canteen but Friday is take-away day...
What healthy food can I suggest we get?
Something that the guys will like....

Let the guys get what they want. You make the healthy choice for yourself.

Nandos or fishaways but no rice or chips or kauai salad. Some sashimi won't hurt too

No we vote on something and I order for everyone...

I make healthy choices when I can but sometimes its not possible.

I'm going to suggest Nandos again... Maybe third time lucky

This is just my opinion, but why don't you make that your cheat meal for the week? Knowing you're going to eat something really yummy on Friday will help you stick to healthy choices the rest of the week and you won't be feeling deprived.
