Weight Watchers

Hear me now and remember for all eternity: I am about to prophesy!

Seriously, weight loss is at least 50% mental. Because if each time you feel guilty about eating that greasy burger, your brain is sending messages to every part of your body that you WILL GET FAT! While if you eat it and enjoy it immensely, endorphins are released and not only make you feel good but also are physically good for you. Do some reading about the whole mind-body connection and you'll find out that the thing you see in the mirror is pretty much the same as the thing in your head.

Have you ever realised that people who simply don't give a wooden **** what they eat and pile in junkfood by the truckload are usually these skinny twits? While the suburban housewife intent on losing weight with Mr Pilates and Ms Diet will get fat from eating vegetables?

You're prophesying untruths :)

CathJ, I go to Weight Watchers. We have a meeting every Wednesday 5.15 - 6.15. You get 12 books; one every week. I never stay for the meeting, just get weighed and off I go. There is no diet involved and you can eat whatever you like. All the different food have points. For instance, a small piece of cake may be 8 points and a huge Tuna salad may be 4 points. The choice is yours. You are allowed a certain number of points for each day; as long as you stick to that number, you can eat whatever you like!

I forgot to mention that the big secret to losing weight, is to keep track of what you eat EVERY DAY!

Yes, I think this where I'm going wrong at the moment - I don't realise how much I'm eating in little snacks here and there. Also, I don't also know which is the healthier option, so I eat something thinking I'm being good when I'm not. Weight Watchers should help with both problems!

There's one quite near me, who meet on a Tuesday, so maybe I'll pop in there next week and chat to the leader and see what we can work out. I just don't want to feel pressurised to go when I can't, and then get moaned at next time because I didn't go.

You could just eat cake all day every day, albeit in small portions?

You could, but you'd get pretty darned hungry :D

:D
that's what I thought

personally I couldn't be bothered with all the adding up of points or calories or whatever.
4 / 5 balanced meals of as much natural food as possible & some regular exercise works for me.

I've come to the conclusion that I can either diet or be happy ... not both at the same time

If you are allowed 20 points for the day, 2 small pieces of cake which adds up to 16 points, will not satisfy your hunger......... So, you are taught to make the right choice.

I want to do this... am i throwing money into the water. Cause the fruit and veg doctor was a total waste...

mila do you want to do this and are you going to be following the same lifestyle afterward?

Because you may very well lose weight but if its not something you are SURE you will keep to after finishing the diet then it all amounts to nothing...

I would recommend this stuff : Osolean

i gym with a bio 2 times a week i do it on my own 2 times a week i have been eating the fruit and vegg doctors diet for 2 months now. Nothing. I do not snack i have not had cake or sweets for months i do not drink soda's i have cut out sugar and milk..... for 2 months now nothing....

I know it has a lot to do with my fusked up hormones but i'm thinking maybe i have portion sizes or something wrong. This is becoming silly now.... when i smoked drank and ate only take always i was a skinny biatch....

So much for growing up and being responsible, i'm at a point ( after a year and a half ) that puking is becoming an option............

And i know all the wise people is going to tell me it is impossible but even the bio wants to quit she says she has never trained with someone who is struggling so much... and i do not pig out when people do not look. So yes i’m serious to do this for the rest of my life this is a lifestyle change not just a diet.

i think you have reached a plateau as they say, now you just have to work through that plateau and then you will start losing again... remember also your body may be building up muscle that is why you aren't seeing any reduction...

Are you weighing yourself and measureing or just 1 of the two?

Peder

THe bio is measuring the fat % and i'm on the scale nothing will go down.
And the bio is getting nasty she is just short of bringing a whip to gym :)

The thing with a plateau is you have to get to one to be on one and i'm just the same....
I have to say the fat wobbles less but it's still there.

whatever you do Mila... don't starve yourself. (and to me eating just fruit and veg if that's not what you're used to is starving yourself)

If you look at any of these "12 week to being ripped" programs, you'll see they all advocate balanced meals. ie protein, carbs and veges. Now I don't necessarily agree with the way they are marketing all their supplements, but the nutritional and exercise advice they give is pretty good.

Two books I found pretty good
Truth about Abs
Body for Life

The fruit and vegg doctor is the dietrician... and i'm not eating just fruit and vegg but yes that is the staple of the most of my diet ( the fruit and vegg doctors diet)

I just need a good balanced lifestyle program.

I need doctor OZ :(

I'm going to join Weight Watchers this evening....

Those who've done this recently: am I correct in understanding that there are 12 "books", and you get one a week? So you have to do at least 12 weeks with them? I'm trying to figure it out because they have 2 different joining specials on at the moment, one on the 8 week membership and one on the 12 week membership. I don't want to commit too far in advance, but if you really need to complete the 12 weeks then I might as well just go for longer membership.

Oh, and I see there's a "South African Food List" book that they sell as well... is this worth getting?

(please, no comments about how it's a marketing scheme or how I just need to eat right and exercise - this is what works best for me right now)
