Shocking P2P, browsing and download speeds (especially at peak times)
Gets EVEN worse when raining
Suspect faulty lines as well as heavy congestion on exchange
Frequent ADSL reconnection / router reboot required

I have issues as well. Tried upgrading my line to 2MB from a 1MB but there was no point when I never get over 500kb downloading speed. Was told that they will only upgrade the infrastructure when there is a sufficient demand for it, even though they advertise that they support up to an 8MB line. False...

Also I noticed that I start having connectivity issues around 3pm till past 8pm. During the morning it works like a charm. Can only deduce that once people start coming home, the congestion is too much to handle.

Additionally there is so much noise on the line that I can't even use the phone to have a decent conversation. Yes, I have a splitter. There are days when it varies, one day is better than others, but there is always noise no matter what.

011 675 xxxx
Line speed 1MB
Afrihost uncapped

Will do trace when at home.

What exchange you connecting to? Mine is rooitou in weltevreden park. I have had no luck with telkom, techy's say everything is working but unfortunately congestion is going to be a problem at peak time so every dam time you get home from then useless internet no matter what speed you have. Only thing to solve congestion is msan maybe late 2014 but we all know that's just a big joke on us.

Hi Guys I see I don't have a problem it seems to be normal that big corporations and the Government can fleece us.
I started with a 384 line (upgraded from dial up) about 10 years ago which was fine as I only used Email. I was offered more but I am a bit careful. Anyway when this hype went around that Telkom would upgrade us to 1 Meg I was approached to upgrade to uncapped. I was exited and thought I can now video Skype. On the Day of the upgrade my line went down and after a lot of Tel calls. Eventually my line was set to 512/256. This is what I get sorry 95% of it. I pay the same like somebody who gets 90% of 1 Meg most of the time. I was told that I am to far from the Exchange in Wynberg. Now my Neighbour gets 50% of his 2 Meg line. And we have no choice as we also have no cell /3g coverage. The big cheat is that the Telkom Webpage says that we can get max 4 Meg. As far as I am concerned this is crook business. This about congestion is rubbish. This might be an explanation if one gets sometime 90% but not permanently less than 50%. Then they talk about best effort. So I think my best effort is to pay only 50%? But then how do I do this with this crook payment system the banks support? Any suggestions?
