Well, it does not really matter if you look at Zim as long as the Guvament can extract a good living who cares about the rest of the people. Just like in animal farm some are more equal than others :)

I think all white people in South-Africa should be given pepper spray or some means to defend themselves by a political organization, to draw media attention to our plight and to give a message to criminals. If all white girls were known to have pepper spray a rapist might think twice about attacking her.

Who would support and sponser an organization dedicated to drawing attention to the problems in this country rather than hiding it from the international media out of concern for potential investments being lost?

Can you imagine if it was the other way round. An innocent young black guy gets shot by a white criminal who shouts "We are going to kill all you blacks"

Not only would there be a nationwide manhunt, but all white people would have to apologize for this remark.
 
Being on the bottom for no good reason tends to give people a bit of an attitude problem. See: apartheid.

Crime affects all. Oh, how I've dreaded the return of the racial bickering of last year...
 
As a "whitey" these things angers me - but I have to remind myself constantly that we are living in a dysfuntional society with much hatred because of our history - and that if I were born and raised on the dark side of our history I might have done the same now. I have to put brakes on my anger - or it may consume me and make me say and do things as bad as those causing the anger.

Look at what's happening in Africa ... many know nothing but war. Children are raised in war - and become soldiers at a very young age. They grow up in voilence and knows nothing else. How can we expect these dysfunctional human beings to act normal? We can only thank God every day that we are the blessed ones who received more grace.

Firearms work better. Don't bet your life on a can of seasoning - and make no mistake, if you retaliate in any way whatsoever, you're risking your life. Rape is almost inevietably a sentence to a gruesome death, considering the AIDS problem in this country. Now, examine the possibility of giving anyone who wants one a firearm, and consider why the government is being so stiff with licensing...

Again, White girls aren't the only ones who get raped. A lot of girls in townships, especially underage girls, get raped as well. I want to know how many of those cases go unreported, but anyway. Stop acting like crime is only a problem for white folk. You're making the same mistake grinning charlie did.

The only institution never needed transformation was our jails.

Nobody says the jails are all black. What is being said is that the amount of black inmates do not represent the demographics of the country. It out strips it. Without laws or bee or aa.

So stop your bitching that crime is not a all black affair. It is darn close to it.

Maybe but that doesn't make the perception justified. And what do you mean by white problem, that whites are the main victims? If so then its more the perpetrators that have the problem isn't it?

doubt we will be paying for long.... had a chat with the security guard here, apparently the guy was completely broken (though apparently not entirely from the fall :P) and he hopes he lives long enough to give evidence...

Funny how they cry and complain after getting captured. I had one like that. He was begging me not to shoot him.

My first question would run along the lines of, why didn't you shoot him? :D

I think if SA is going to fight crime they will have to come together (Black, White, Indian, Coloured) on it i.e. forget calling the young black woman on 702 this morning a "Coconut Girl" because she was incensed over a 14yo black girl being raped and murdered,

What we need right now are:
  • We need to make criminals know that they actually WILL be caught
  • Speedy arrests (after diligent detective work).
  • Speedy Trials (where perpetrators are made to serve their full sentence, with no hope of parole)
  • Corrupt Officials given double the sentence of a civilian (due to the fact that they were in a position of public trust)

Crime isn't a Black, White, Coloured or Indian issue it is a South African issue and we need to deal with it.

I think rape is the most heinous crime and i think most would choose death over rape....i somehow struggle to see how only white girls need to protect themselves..yes white people are affected by crime, no debating or denying that, but honestly..if you think white guys have it bad..don't think that townships are some utopia where everybody is enjoying the goods stolen from white ppl.. I work in construction and the guys tell me, full grown, big black guys, that they have to walk in groups of at least 10 from one station across to their shacks, because they will get attacked, often stripped down to their underwear..yea it raises a chuckle at the thought, but pls don't think that only white ppl. are fed with crime etc.. you still have the perverse benefit that when crime affects a white person, the publicity far exceeds that of the same crime against a black person.
The short-comings of the govt. to combat crime is not a white vs. black issue, it SA vs. the Criminals.
