Wesbank refund

My understanding is that this only affects clients who used private finance during those years where chocolate finance would facilitate the transaction on behalf of Wesbank

My finance deal was closed in 2015 when I settled the finance

Do pardon me but I really have no idea what you are saying, can you repeat it in plain language.

Nah, both mine were directly with Wesbank, no middleman.

1st Car - financed in 2013, paid off in 2016 - overcharged amount paid into bank account
2nd Car - currently still financed - they just deducted the overcharge amount from my capital

Wesbank offers private finance on vehicles where you dont buy from a dealership but you do a private sale with a private seller, to facilitate all the paperwork etc wesbank outsourced this to a company called chocolate finance who would ensure all paperwork was complete and correct before wesbank would release any funds to the seller

This company chocolate finance added additional fees on top of their normal charges to facilitate the sale

I assume wesbank has now picked up on this error and thus refunding all affected clients

This was how the wesbank agent explained it to me this morning

Got the same email on Jan 11th 2022. Called them today. Getting a R4450 refund. Car was purchased from private seller in 2013 and paid it off in 2016.
When I asked for reason of refund they said same as above. Agents fees from company called Chocolate Finance. Since then WesBank do own admin in house.

Yup my car was in 2015, but only finished paying off in 2018 so will have to wait and see
All depends if you bought it through a dealer or a private seller. If it’s bought through a private seller you should get something back

I got the message on my FNB app on 12 January 2022 and thought it was odd as my old car was paid up in 2015, also bought from a private seller in 2013. Getting R4450, great surprise for Januworry…

Ah all my cars have been dealers, that sucks.

I cancelled a bond with Nedbank. The written quote for transferring the title deed to my name was R2700. The invoice from the attorneys was 3 pages long and amounted to R7650,44

I queried this with the attorneys who undertook to investigate and come back to me. This was in 2009. Despite over 50 reminders, they never did. I was told in Jan 2019 that the person dealing with this had left and they could not locate the files

A complaint to the Law Society did not even get a response

Maybe Nedbank will refund me? The favourite excuse seems to be "the person who dealt with this is no longer with us". Absolute BS of course

I just received my letter and called them bought the vehicle in 2011 and sold it in 2012 and received a refund of R 3100.

I bought a car in 2012 and another in 2014, both financed through wesbank. Seems about the right time frame, havent heard a thing from them. :crying::crying::crying:

Also got an FNB in app notification for this now.
Called the # and apparently I get R4900 back for vehicle purchased in 2016 and paid off in 2017.

I would've been very suspect if it was an email but FNB in-app notification? I called and now I see this thread.

Thanks for this thread, also got the email and assumed it was fraudulent. Called the number and was told that a company that facilitated private finance deals for Wesback called Chocolate Finance added a "facilitation" fee which they were not supposed to. Hopefully get a refund in the next 5/7 working days. This was for a vehicle bought in 2013.

I got a app notification today and also Google'd it to check it's legitimacy. Glad I found this thread so thanks guys.

Bought a car privately but financed through FNB/Wesbank in 2015 and settled it in 2019.
My refund is over R10k, car was only R55000.

I received exactly the same email today

I checked the account number and then googled and landed on this thread

Mine was for a caravan financed by Wesbank from a private seller

The amount comes to R3,565 which is very welcome (as it feels like we are on day 66 of January…)

Being pointed to the MyBroadband thread reminds me why I joined this Forum all the years ago, which was because of the clear answers to general questions
