Western Digital VS Seagate!!!

Western Digital or Seagate, which do you prefer?

I see.. mm.. I guess I'm going to be safe on both products.. aren't I? I mean they're the current top brands for hard drives right? There isn't any better ones.. are there?

Performance as in windows and games loading faster. Files copying faster too.

Yeah, I would not worry too much about it. I would still place seagate at no. 2.
 
Western Digital - no failures (currently have about 25 in use, from 80GB to 1.5TB)
Hitachi (IBM) - no failures (have 3 in use, 120GB/250GBs))
Seagate - 3 failures
Samsung - 7 failures

All used over the last 10-years - just my experience with the different manufacturers... ;)
 
When I was younger I experienced that WD drives tend to fail more. Then years later I thought they must have resolved their problems. Now I do the IT for a company and have had only one drive fail since I started here and guess what it's a WD.
 
I used to be a loyal Seagate supporter until the whole 7200.11 fiasco. My Western Digital drives haven't failed yet.
 
Doesnt really matter between WD, Seagate and Samsung. They sell more than enough that its obvious they have minimal issues. No matter which one you get you still have to hope that you will not have gotten the 1 HDD out of 100 000 that is dodgy. So just pick one and get it over with.
 
We've been running Seagate drives in all our servers, and client's PC's for the past 10 years and have had no problems with them. I generally prefer server grade HDD's for everything, but still :)
 
I've had 9/20 seagate drives fail in 2 purchases in 2 weeks .... I'm not too bothered, the importer replaced all of them without question ... its just the time and effort portion that got me pi$$ed
 
In no particular order, Samsung, WD, Seagate. I'm using all three and haven't had any issues on internal drives.

I recently bought a ext 2TB Seagate and had a DOA. Took back and had swopped. The swop-out also brand new had a faulty AC adapter!!!. swopped that and eventually on the third try it worked.

Other than that, I really don't think one is specifically better than the other. It has a lot to do with the environments they work is as well. Extreme heat or dust places and so forth are not good for any HDD. Dodgy power supplies, or electrical spikes etc all make a HUGE difference in the lifespan of a drive. Also, if you dragging your PC around to a LAN every other weekend, those little trips in the car also not the best remedy for a HDD.
 
+1 wd been serving me well but nothing last forever aspecially that which has moving parts.
 
Both :)

They come out of the same factory in China, just go through diff conveyors for the brand labels :)
