What am I missing?

We should just all be happy that the Data Tariffs arent like the Petrol Prices, which is where you pay more for less :D

Not so. If I'm on a 1GB contract and I go over to 3GB that month look at what GB 2 & 3 would cost me, I dare you. Thus for the 2nd & 3rd which is more than 1 GB, thus I'm buying more, but look at the cost of it. Another prohibiting factor.

Lower modem costs would benefit everyone. But they're complex pieces of electronics and is costly to develop and manufacture. That's why Vodacom subsidise your modem, to reduce your cost of entry.

Knowing and committing your usage upfront (to any supplier) makes it easier to plan and control performance. For this commitment, you get a price benefit. This is standard in any supply-chain.

Sounds you go OOB from 1G onwards, right up to 3G? Why not buy Ad-Hoc bundles? If you're on contract, it'll be less for the same amout of data.

buy Ad-Hoc bundles? If you're on contract, What is the Vodacom product name and how would a person do it? :o

Called an Ad-Hoc bundle. More info on this forum or www.vodacom.co.za.
I don't see this Ad-Hoc bundle.

But what I do see is this--a non user friendly situation.

To activate a bolt-on data bundle to your existing Contract voice package, simply:

* Click here to log onto Vodacom4me to purchase a data bundle of your choice; or
* Contact Vodacom’s dedicated care line on 155 free from your Vodacom cellphone, or 082 155rom any other phone; or
* Contact your Service Provider.

or

To bolt a mobile data bundle onto your existing Prepaid or Top Up voice package simply:

* Click here to log onto Vodacom4me to purchase a data bundle of your choice; or
* Dial *111#, free from your Vodacom cellphone, and follow the prompts; or
* Contact Vodacom’s dedicated care line on 155 free from your Vodacom cellphone, or 082 155 from any other phone.

Imagine this. I'm busy surfing, maybe downloading and I suddenly realize I'm low on bandwidth. And low and behold I now need to first "top-up".

Why can't this be done for me automatically. Please see the WebAfrica auto top-up. Their's is a grown up's product. Your company is not giving me a great service but a public service type service. We're in an technology era. This activation is a manual process.

And does the bolt-on roll over?

@emmanuel, from what I can tell, some of what you're moaning about is related to rollover, there already is a dedicated Data Bundle Rollover thread, as well as a poll, and I notice that you have not yet cast your vote...I recommend keeping the rollover issues in the rollover thread, but please make your posts easy to understand.

Well, then I'm not stating myself clearly enough to convey where I'm at.

I'm in essence on about the products not being fairly priced. High entry cost. Differentiation about price of a unit. Top-up process not being automatic. Too many products. Choosing product upfront.

Please look at my original post.

Oh, and at the same time I'm predicting this state of affairs wont' last. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE.
