OK, top ten at the moment (could change tomorrow

)
1. My Day calendar. The built-in calendar is far from perfect, this is a worthy alternative.
2. Artstudio. Best drawing program IMHO.
3. Appdeals. Shows what apps are on special, or free for a limited time. Found a whole wad of games on special for Xmas.
4. Aweditorium. Wow, I'm not much into indie music but the interface and philosophy behind the app is mindblowing, and a good show-off of what the iPad can do. Now, do if they could just do the same for classic rock...
5. MotionX. Best GPS/routing app. The GPS of the iPad is phenomenally accurate, and this just puts some icing on the cake.
6. Goodreader. I read a lot of (um, free) magazines on the ipad, and this the best way to do so.
7. Pulp. I like it because it separates your Google Reader channels into sections, and you can select only the ones you want, unlike Flipbook, which just piles them all into one heap. Overall I think it beats Flipbook hands-down on the content side, but each has some nice layout features that make it difficult to choose between the two.
8. Gourmania is flavour of the day game, just 'cos the wife's into cooking. Also We Doodle, Rage HD, and Words with Friends.
9. Friends. Makes Facebook a lot friendlier.
10. I'm using Air Video without problems. For local videos I use CineX Player, since it does subtitles the best. VLC is the worst in that department.
This really goes without saying, but I'm using Dropbox for moving files around.
Apps that are a waste of time, or just about:
1. Wordpress. it's going to take some time for the iPad to become a full-on blogging tool, and the Wordpress app isn't helping.
2. Tweetdeck, tried and rejected, using Twitter's own app.
3. Project, even now that it's free.... Mr Branson, there's no way I'm going to sit through a mind numbing 500Mb download just to read your magazine.
4. Tron. Waste of time.
5. Adobe Photoshop Express. If this is Adobe's best shot, they're going nowhere in the iPad graphic app niche.
6. I use Office HD, but I don't think it's the best there is. Want to try alternatives in the new year.
Trying out Tweetmag, great idea but very slow; OpenStreetMaps for Europe, wondering whether it was worth the 900Mb download; and hope to spend a lazy Christmas day afternoon playing Crystal Portal, looks interesting, and it's free. Happy holidays!
