What apps do you recommend for iPad?

Flipboard is very pretty but I find Reeder better at reading posts from my Google Reader account :)

Discovered it recently, Reeder it's a great app for Google Reader. Also using Instapaper - for storing interesting articles for later reading, works directly from Reeder, Google Reader or any website.

Same here - I send to Instapaper from Reeder too - work real well together :)

Geez, I'm at the levels that look like slow - and it's becoming damn difficult. The last two levels probably took me 5 hours, played them almost 10 times before I beat it. :(

Loving Streamtome... works really well and doesnt seem to suck up too many resources. I have it running on my HTPC accessing my Unraid server over Gigabit Lan streaming via my wifi router and i have never had a problem. Even with my wife watching a 1080p MKV file on the HTPC playing on the main TV using XBMC it will encode and stream to me on my Ipad without any impact on plaback for either of us.

If you like Flipboard then I also suggest looking at Zite

Bought Lighttrac just for the fun of it - and it is actually a very nice app. Shows you on a Google Map overlay the direction of sunrise, sunset, current sun direction, moonrise, moonset and current moon direction at any place and/or date of your choosing.

I can see this having real value for planning a photo shoot. And of course for my 2 year old daughter who is obsessed with the moon. :-)

I used to use Streamtome - pretty awesome. Have lately been using Air Video though - guess it's just personal preference ;)

Will take a look at Air Video.

What i really want is an XBMC version which works on non-jailbroken devices.... this would be the Ultimate App imho.

Anyone recommend the best media player for the iPad (off flash not network streamed).

I'm currently using Movie Player but the playback quality (decoding/streaching) of xvid/avi files leave a lot to be desired (compared to same file on laptop). Not sure if its just lack of CPU/GPU horsepower?

I use VLC as my player of choice, but it's no longer available on the Appstore. Haven't tried Buzz Player out myself yet, but there's also CineXplayer which works pretty well too.

How did you get Movie player to play avi/xvid in the first place?

I use Air Video to convert the AVIs to h264 if I can't stream.

Are you not getting confused with the iPad's native Videos app? Movie Player is a 3rd party app from the App Store.

Buzz Player plays just about every format smoothly and has a network file browser.
Gave Buzz Player a try, but the quality is pretty much the same on avi/xvid files. While it has some extra bells & whistles, I still prefer Movie Player's clean uncluttered layout.

Seems it is just a pure horsepower issue on the iPad1, with no hw acceleration for formats other than the Apple supported h.264. Guess I'll just just have to live with it.

What kind of videos are you trying to play? Never had any problems with playback issues using buzz player on avi/xvid.

Wouldnt say I have playback issues, video framerate is smooth & voice sync is fine on both Movie Player & Buzz, however its the actual picture quality thats the problem.

When smaller xvid/avi files (624x352) are streched to the iPad's screen width (1024) I get quite a bit of artifacting and colour banding. On my laptop with dual core & nvidia hw acceleration the same file plays without the above annoyances even when stretched to higher widths (1440).

Anyone know of an app that allows you to save a page/article from a pdf to a new pdf? Sometimes there are pages/articles within a pdf that I would like to save for future reference - with a new file name etc. Or maybe the ability to export from the pdf to Instapaper for instance.

Thanks!

Wont ever happen as it falls under GPL, some of the libs are GPLv3 <-- also the main reason my iPad 2 wants to file for neglect

My List:

Read it later When I come across something I would love to read but don't have time for at that point
Marvel Comics What Can I say I grew up with comic books
Pulse Only news reader I use on any platform, even links into my Google Reader
Sparkle HD Do not click, this dam game is addictive as hell, Zuma revenge type of game.
Soundhound Grate for when watching TV and some song play's that you like and would like to find out more.
iDisplay Turns your iPad into a second monitor for your PC/Mac.
And last but not the least Sketchbook Pro for the artist in me.

I would add more games to the list like say Collision Effect(Again dont install) and what not but seeing that I play so many I would leave the list with my 1st ever one that I played waaay to much. Also not making the list is all the jailbrake only apps.
