Are you not getting confused with the iPad's native Videos app? Movie Player is a 3rd party app from the App Store.
Gave Buzz Player a try, but the quality is pretty much the same on avi/xvid files. While it has some extra bells & whistles, I still prefer Movie Player's clean uncluttered layout.
Seems it is just a pure horsepower issue on the iPad1, with no hw acceleration for formats other than the Apple supported h.264. Guess I'll just just have to live with it.
Have you checked out their website?Just got my iPad 2 and so far so awesome , except if I do go for Buzz player, how do you transfer avi files to the iPad .I'm not loving this walled garden stuff at all. Is this possible sans jailbreak?
How do I transfer files to BUZZ Player? (Update for new method of version 1.3)
There are several ways to do that:
Computer-to-BUZZ Player: using USB cable. Read more on "Transferring Files" > "USB File Transfer" topic.
Computer-to-BUZZ Player: using WiFi-connection. If your device and computer are connected to the same WiFi network, use Web-browser to on your computer to transfer your files wirelessly. Read more on "Transferring Files" > "USB File Transfer" topic.
From version 1.1, you have another convenient way to copy file sharing on local network that using SMB and FPT protocol:
On Main window of BUZZ Player, touch "SMB & FTP browser" icon to display "SAMBA & FTP Shares" window.
Connect to the sharing files and browse it to the file you want to copy
Touch the file then select action "Copy To Device" to copy it.
Read more about SMB & FTP shares on "Browse Local Network" topic.
From version 1.3, you can download media files and zip files from Internet to BUZZ Player through Built-in Internet Browser. Read more on "Built-in Internet Browser" topic.

Tried streamtome and found 720p content was buffering all the time so tried video stream and it works perfectly but doesn't support mp3 or jpg, essentially only video formats. It probably is to late but I found StreamToMe with the data on my PC the best option as I download the media to my pc anyway

Home sharing through iTunes works brilliantly for sharing the iTunes library with all devices within a network... See tutorial here..
tbh I only discovered home sharing yesterdayYou could not have posted this a month sooner?

Quick questions on video chat with the iPad 2:
Can you use one of the video chat apps and chat to someone that is using skype?
Yip!
Yip!
AFAIK while not optimised the iPhone skype version works adequately. I'm pretty confident that skype will be designing an iPad specific version now that they have cameras.Really !!!??
Why are people then complaining http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=804071 about that there is no Skype optimised app for iPad 2 - if they can just use one of the other video apps? Which one is it BTW???
