AFAIK while not optimised the iPhone skype version works adequately. I'm pretty confident that skype will be designing an iPad specific version now that they have cameras.

Ok cool! I'm now more convinced that this is the device to get above all others.

Both Skype and Fring work on the Ipad 2. Neither is optimised for the larger screen but they both work and are very usable. The latest Fring also supports video conference calling.

Do a google search for top productivity apps - you'll find dropbox, evernote etc.

Then what do you want to use it for? Watching series and movies? - Air Video

iBooks for, well, books.

Nobody knows why Skype takes so long to come up with an iPad version. It's actually ridiculous. But I can't wait until it finally happens. Using Skype a lot.

I really like Infinite Field and Gears, for cheap yet awesome games. Also the new Al Gore book - Our Choice.

I see Gameloft have a couple of their games on sale for $0.99 at the moment. Worth getting at that price:

Real Football 2011 HD/ Real Soccer 2011 HD
Let's Golf! 2 HD
Eternal Legacy HD
Splinter Cell Conviction™ HD
James Cameron's Avatar for iPad
Let's Golf! HD

Thanks for the heads up. Some of the Gameloft games look really good, I don't play a lot of the games I bought already so will see if I decide on getting anymore just to "sit gathering dust".

A cool way to drain your battery quickly before recharge is Pocket Pond HD (US store only), also shows off the iPad's graphics pretty well . If you're really bored while waiting, buy the full iFish Pond which also adds fishing.
