Doesn't the 350D use CF? In that case, why settle for the Ultra II cards? Go for the Extreme III - it's about the best performance/space/money ratio, and I estimate fast enough to allow the 350D's 2.8fps with room to spare.

I doubt the III is going to be noticeably faster except maybe when it comes to the offload.

I stand under correction here, but my understanding is is that it boils down to the write speed of the camera.

Not sure on card prices these days but if you can get Extreme III or IV for not much more then go for that, when I bought there was a big price difference between Ultra II and Extreme III.

Of course, I completely forgot about that. It's a pity, really. It would be cool if they made a camera that could actually write as fast as it generated files in high-speed mode.
 
bottom line, 'budget' and get the best bang for your buck, considering all components and accessories!
 
Besides - the guy needs to save up and replace that kit lens!

It actually came with a Sandisk Ultra II 2GB CF card! :P I am sooo chuffed with my purchase :P

I know I am going to need to upgrade glass quite soon, but want to learn a little more before I do!!

Thanks for the help and advice guys. I know some people advised differently, but this suited my budget 100% and is actually exactly what I want for right now.

Cool, you have done well then with that new deal and that is decent memory for the camera.
Take some time, take plenty of shots and then you can decide on your next glass depending on what you enjoy shooting the most.
If the bug bites, be prepared to part with lots of money in times to come hehe :D

the dslr bug bit me in 2003 and since then I have only used the kit lenses that came with the cameras - I never needed a longer or a wider lens
I guess everybody has different needs
but yeah, I've you want really long lenses... $ :D

I think my 16-35 is still the most expensive lens I own - probably will be for some time to come.
 
SAPO willing I shall have a new toy this week. :)
