What Can I Try? (Formatting Laptop)

I have an old Acer Travelmate 211T. Now I need to upgrade it from Windows 2000 to Windows XP, the problem is the CD-Rom doesn't work/pick up my Windows XP disc and the Bios doesn't seem to support booting off a USB flash drive, what else can I try?

you can remove the drive and install xp on it on another machine ,then put it back in the pc ,xp might just work , there is a bigger chance that is will not, as xp is not as good as win7 when it comes to changing hardware and still working.

No only cd-rom, floppy drive and hard drive, it's a very old laptop.

Yeah doesn't seem to pickup the disc at all. :/

Going to give that floppy/usb boot thing a try tomorrow (today)

1. Make copy of Windows CD. It should pickup a copy. Simplest method.
