What can you do on a MAC?

The only major expense from what was listed - and after only a quick glance - would be for MS Office. Parallels is also quite pricey at $79 but the rest were mostly shareware and freeware. All the iLife apps - iphoto, imovie, idvd, garage band - all come with a new mac.

Edit HD and SD video in Final Cut Pro without the computer crashing every few minutes, in comparison to WinXP and Adobe Premiere Pro. :)

That's the only reason I got a Mac. :)

You can prolly get an OEM or second hand MS Office for Mac on Ebay for a fraction of the local price, talking about a legit copy here.

Probably but we got the Student Version for around $150 iirc and that allow four installations.

Ok - so you've got your avi or folder from maktheripper sitting on your desktop and you want to burn it to a blank dvd or cd?

How about File >> New Burn Folder from the Finder? Then you name the burn folder, open it up, drop in the video_ts folder and click on "Burn"

Alternatively you can slip in your blank - it will ask you want you want to do with it, so you choose "Open Finder" for the Action. Then you drag everything you want into that (for a playable dvd that would be just the video_ts folder) and ejecting it should give you the burn dialogue.

There are other ways such as using the disk utility too.

Thanks for the help on this one. Its working a treat. I will play around with it some more to see if I can perfect it. Or maybe look at Toast 7.

Cheers

You can probably set up automator actions to do most things for you.
