I know this thread was aimed at the guys, but as a lady who has to buy the deo's for hubby (and myself) I'd like to share my experience.
The Mitchum Power Gels work really well for odour and sweat control (for both men and ladies), but they do get onto your shirt under the arms and over time it becomes hard and white.
This is because the gel gets onto your clothing if you put the shirt on right after applying, or if you put on too much. A lot of roll-on types do this though, not just Mitchum.
Before I got Mitchum for hubby, he was just using deodorants. Please understand that there is a difference between a deodorant and an antiperspirant. Deodorant is just smell-nice stuff, which has no odour or sweat reduction properties. If you want to control your sweat you need an antiperspirant. I switched him over to antiperspirants which do a much better job. A deodorant just tries to mask the smell by putting a layer of nice smell on top of it. We tried a variety and found Mitchum to be the most effective and long-lasting.
With Mitchum, you should put on a very very thin layer. You don't need to glob it on. Also, you need to put it on and either let it dry for a few minutes before putting on a shirt, or put the shirt on first and then put the antiperspirant on. Mitchum first + dry time works best though. That way the gel doesn't rub off on the shirt, so no build-up. That white hard stuff is also almost impossible to get out again. Hubby has also had to throw away a bunch of shirts because of it.
An alternative that works really well is the Mitchum spray. It's an antiperspirant spray, not just a deodorising (aka "smell-nice") spray. It's as strong and works as well as the gel, but it doesn't do the underarm build-up because it's an aerosol and not gel. It has a very neutral smell though, so on top of that you put a bit of Axe. Or Old Spice. (or in my case, a bit of perfume/deo)
I die for the smell of chocolate Axe. Mmmmmmmmm.
