What did I do in a previous life?

wow, you must be rich if you have a car that uses R3,000.00-R5,000.00 tyres.

It's the size of the tyre and not the price or type of car.

You could have a Tata with 19" tyres that'd cost R20,000.00 a set for Michellins - or even a Porsche that you have 17" tyres that cost R8,000.00 a set

EDIT : Since the post, got a Superquick to get a set of 235/35/19 at R2,600.00 each installed - about 20% less than normal. So one area sort of sorted ;)

Thanks :)

Just not great with all the potholes around ... :/

I'm on my 3rd set of rears in 2 years - only done 25,000km in 3 years.... get used to it ;)

My rears are R3,300 each now :( and directional - so I have to replace both at the same time.

I don't even look what you drive - I remember ... don't you feel bad? ;)

What size/make do you put on?

This is more a vent post than anything else ;)

In the last 3 weeks I've had the worst luck I've had for a while. Thankfully though - not relating to death, injury or ill health - and more financial or inconvenience.

I took my car in for a standard 60,000km service on Friday a few weeks ago. They phone in the afternoon and tell me my drive shaft is cracked and they need to order. I have no car that weekend - but get my car (after much fighting) the Monday (no cost - just inconvenience).

The next morning my tax has been calculated and I'm hit with a R29,000.00 bill.

The same afternoon my gate motor needs to be replaced - R6,000.00

That Saturday I get a brand new BB Torch from Vodacare. It was broken and needed replacement - which was done the Monday afternoon.

While getting the replacement phone, I request a SIM swop. I get home and they've given me someone elses SIM (Franscois). Worried that he may have mine and can make calls - I request to block that new card. The suspend my entire line so I can't phone out.

I sort that out the following day, leave early to give them Francious card and get a new replacement SIM. I take it home and it's listed as being 'active' and there's nothing they can do.

I take back that SIM and ask for money back as I'd rather go elsewhere after their two failure. I pop off the next day to another Vodacare shop and the minute I sit, the guys mumbles 'system offline'. I walk next door and get it from another Vodacare - so he was lying.

Get up for work the next morning and SIX traffic lights out. This means my 17km route takes me almost 2 hours and I'm late for a meeting.

Yesterday driving home, I hit a pothole. Tyre tears and needs to be replaced in pairs - at a cost of between R3,000.00-R5,000.00 per tyre.

It’s just money. At least you didn’t contract an STD by sleeping with your ex while dating your cousin.

LOL... I remembered when I saw the pic :) ... then I remembered Jk8 - and that made me feel bad :p

17" - can't remember the profile - the backs are wider than the fronts.

RE050 - S2000 edition

Do you have a Monster Truck?

Well yes - I did mention upfront that's it's not ill health or anything like that.
Also said there were other inconveniences not financially related.

But R45,000.00 in 2 weeks does make one feel slightly down in all honesty :/

I noticed he's banned actually ...

Damn Dolby thats hectic. On the plus side theres not much else that can go wrong...your thoroughness is impressive.

Until you don't have it...then its survival. And I assume the colour thing is a bad reference to the troll thread?

What is that? :/
Tyres made for the car?

Bridgestone Potenza RE050 - apparently they have slightly different tread for different cars... I recon its a way to get you to pay more for the same tyre :) Got a quote on RE050's think it was R5500 for both, then said RE050's for S2000 and it was R6,600.
