No, again, you are limited by the curvature of the earth.

Stations that are beamed to a part of Africa can be received using a big dish if you are on the edge of that transmission. You could never pick up Sky, or anything similar unless it beamed this way. The satellites are in geosynchronous orbit above the country/s they transmit to.
C-band needs a big dish wherever you are.

Ku is a bit different.

I was replying specifically to AntiGanda's curvature of the earth comment. Sure you can pick up other countries' satellite, but you can also use these dishes (some are like 3m wide) for terrestrial television.

Looks like an old 2.4m mesh dish. Some of the petals have lost their mesh. Rusted away I guess. Used for C-band (Russian, Chinese, Arabic, Catholic, etc... Depending on satellite). We used to sell them a lot, but they are basically obsolete.
