I had friends in Cape Town that had one in their Garden.
They used to pick up channels from the UK with that thing.
 
I know all the Somalis have these at their shops so I'm assuming its to pick up international FTA channels

Yes, I saw them much more in areas like Mitchell's Plain and around the Cape Flats. I have noticed one or two in the Tygervalley area, but not more.
 
would also like to know
i saw a house with like 2of those and one huge one (prob 3x that size)
 
I used to have it at home 10 years back. It was for the free-to-air Satellite channels.

That is very unlikely. You cannot change the curvature of the earth by using a bigger dish.
