Yesterday my R600 office chair from Game broke, no I did not fall and no I'm not fat... just a sh!itty chair, warranty hs expired if there was any.
So I'm looking for a new one, any recommendations?
Budget +-R1k

I got a high-back leather office chair with massage function. Bought for R1500 (IIRC) from Game, great chair, but the wheels broke off because it got stuck on the carpet. Now I am sitting on a lobsided chair until such time as I put my laminated flooring in. :)

In that price range Makro may serve your needs. The chairs are fair quality - expect them to break after a year or two - but are fairly comfortable.

Suggestions for better quality than Game/Makro chairs? Not going to spend R10k but looking for something that's both comfortable & durable at the optimum price.

You could try one of those dedicated office furniture shops or even Waltons.

I'm using an office chair from Makro for 3 years now. It's about a R999 and it hasn't broken but the faux leather on the arm rests are starting to give up.

Go to a reputable second hand shop and but one there.

Then re-upholster (if required) and steam clean it.

Cost me R400 in total.

This.

The price of simple things are ridiculous these days, like a tables that cost R10 000 for example.

I'm in the market for a nice office chair for my study as well and Makro has some on promotion ranging from R1200 to R1999 IIRC

Cecil Nurse have some of the best chairs around.
I currently use the Vibe at Home and it is an exceptional chair.

R1,932.30

Stay away from Game & Makro chairs.

Go into Game and ask for more wheels. They gave me some, though the wheels were just some of the bits that literally fell off or apart.

I have standard chair but I alternate between standing desk and sitting on 75cm gym ball. Hipster tendencies :P

They are known to be terrible for longer sittings.
They are gimmick more than anything.

What. It's the most comfortable seat I've ever sat on. Some days I barely move off of it. It's made for comfort too.

Way more comfy than every desk chair I've ever sat on too. This thing at work is killing my back especially, and it's only 11:21.

Goto a scrap yard and get a car seat, then add the base from your current chair. If it's not broken.

Preferably a BMW chair.
