What do you use Tasker for?

Hang on I found it.
Was using location based profile when should have been using state with cell near.
Cool, let me try that

Reads out my news and weather each morning at 7am then switches to my music app and plays a playlist. I need to figure out a way to route this audio to my surround sound in the bedroom but it doesn't look likely based on the digging I've done. EDIT: Air Audio works well for this.

Switches on Wi-Fi when I hit a certain set of cell towers near my house and welcomes me home when it connects to my home Wi-Fi. Only between certain times of day. Also opens yatse for media centre control.

Checks my account balances every two hours during the day and announces that it its doing so. Can monitor rogue usage this way.

How do you go about getting the phone to "Read Out news and weather" and all those other broadcast messages. Do you mean it actually speak out loud?

Yes, it reads out the information. I installed Ivona voice which is incredibly realistic, and then I googled for strings to add in the field required for reading stuff out in Tasker, as an action. It's in fact really easy as they've added a few options in the presets that create the strings for you. I have no idea how to write them...

Cheers. I can see what I'm going to be playing around with tonight :D

I need to figure this out more. Have alot I want to do but no time to sit and play.

If someone could help, that would be cool... I would like to turn rotation off every time my phone goes into sleep mode (screen switches off), but I can't seem to get this one right...

Slightly OT.

Has anybody tried AutomateIt? Very similar in functionality to Tasker.

I can't be sure, but iirc you can find that option in Secure Settings and use sleep as the trigger state.

But why would you need that?

Just tried it and couldnt figure it out either.
But did this instead......
State, Display state.......off
Task, Display, Display rotation......off. Still doesnt work.
But if you make the task an exit task, then it will work. Dont ask me why
Sorry for above format, but hope you understand

I generally don't like rotation to be on, except when certain apps are open. I would like rotation to switch off when I am done with the app in all likelihood... I suppose I should just try make it an exit task for those apps...

Try my method above, works in all instances

I have been trying to find a way to automatically clear the memory or Ram on the phone. Say every morning or night. Can't seem to find a way to do it. I am not rooted, so can't use the method of where tasker simulates touches on screen. Anyone have any idea to do it, or will I have to root?

Is it not better to leave Android to manage the RAM by itself? As far as I know, clearing memory has little benefits.

How do i set wifi to switch off when it disconnects from a wifi network?

Okay cool, but I also like to clean the memory manually every now and then.
Looks like it can be done but only with root.

Can someone please help me

Use tasker to set WiFi Off and Keyguard off when I arrive at home

When I leave home... WiFi Off and Keyguard on

Tried....
Auto location... Inconsistent
But it does work sometimes

Only accurate one would be gps, cell towers have too high a range, a single tower can run as short as a few metres and as far as I think 75km.

Personally my wifi is never off so I use a similar task based on SSID. Based on how you want it, the inconsistent way would be the most functional without draining your battery with constant gps usage.

You could consider a 2nd partner profile to enable the GPS based on day and time, that will help in the week at least.

As far as a I know, especially with the newer versions, leaving wifi on will have little to no impact on battery life. It does an occasional poll for available connections, but that's about it. You could just change that time if rooted. Mines like 2min I think.

You are lik3ly to negatively impact battery and overall performance by doing that, so while you may like it, it's a detrimental idea.
