I bought an IPad 2 from Makro today.
I read there is an extended warranty available from iStore.
I phoned iStore, I can buy the extended warranty within a year. The extended warranty does not cover a screen replacement, for some reason I though it does (could have sworn I read it in an ad somewhere but like the assistant said - no way jose)

So what does the extended warranty cover then? Just in case internal electronics break (not due to damage from user)?
Did you take it? Is it worth it?

It's definitely not worth it. It covers essentially the same things as the normal warranty if it's Apple Care or something equivalent. Apple Care is nice cash cow for Apple.

Better cash cow for Core since they're covering it - and they call it the iCare Plus Extended Warranty.

AppleCare+, from Apple, in the other hand extends the standard warranty coverage to two years and covers you for two incidents of what they call "accidental damage" - like cracking the screen.

Doubt it - we dont have an official Apple presence in SA so have to make do with what core offers.

And remember this is CORE we are talking about.. so prepared to be shafted..

Who knows, with the arrival of an improved itunes store it might herald the arrival of a proper apple presence in sa.

Yeah man, I hope that happens. At least then we wont be charged a "premium" for Apple products and we will have great service.. I was thinking about the Apple Store Sydney, it took me literally 10minutes from walking in to walking out with an iPad Mini and Apple TV! 10Min!!
