First proper RPG in years?
Um, no. Outer worlds is an action RPG
Proper RPG games of the last few years:

Divinity Original sin 2 - 2017
Pillars of Eternity 2 - 2018
Pathfinder Kingmaker - 2018
Ni no Kuni 2 - 2018 (technically a jrpg)
And of course the souls games if that is your type of thing

You seem to be misinformed

For me it has more RPG aspects then action RPG like MHW or D3.
Dos 2 brilliant.
POE I hated because I don't like the art style.
Haven't heard of pathfinder kingdoms.
Ni no Kuni I just cant do the Japanese stuff
Souls are action rpgs I'm going to reserve opinion on those games .

All the games you mentioned other then Dos 2 and POE are just not like old school DND Rpg's (well based off those systems) and Outerworlds kinda is which is why I liked it.

Witcher 3 is considered an action RPG but it has a heavy DND elements which I like.

So are you trying to discredit what I said by saying action rpg then listing action rpg's in your examples, if you don't like it just say you don't like it. Why do you have to be obtuse?

Factorio - 10/10. RIP my social life.
Have you tried Satisfactory? I killed my machine with Factorio and a super sweet mod(or few) that made it oh so pretty but also so gritty and more time consuming (what have I become?).

Satisfactory will probably also get there with mod support but for now I've absolutely loved it. I'm fairly sure Oxygen not included isn't going to nearly be as rewarding if you're as into Factorio as I think you are.

I am considering to replay the Wasteland series as soon as the Wasteland 1 remaster lands. Also close to making my third pre-order this year... :crying:

This is the statement you made that I showed to be false

" first proper RPG that has been developed in years "

A proper DnD style RPG takes a lot of time and investment.
I recently started a new playthrough of Neverwinter Nights 2 and the investment is immense

Pillars of eternity is hard. you need to think about your character build and can't just put points where you want and still easily succeed, but that is why a proper RPG is so rewarding.

That is why the open world action RPG has become so popular.
You kill stuff, do quests and ad points to a few stats - done. It's impossible to have a difficult character build, because it ultimately doesn't matter.
It wasn't the builds that was the issue. (I play path of exile lol). I mean, it's just another cRPG in term of mechanics. The story just didn't grab me at all for some reason and if the story doesn't grab in an RPG, whats the point, you know?

So then by you definition of misinformed you and me are both misinformed because you don't know what an RPG is either

Now everything you said after or before that is false, do you see how this is a fallacious argument? This now gives you the right to be obtuse.

You can just say you don't like it you don't have to bring out the gaming salt but I will in future make sure to say proper RPG elements to appease you.

Anyway want to hug it out.

Oxygen not Included is a great game but its more of a generic base builder, while handling problems such as food, too much heat etc, so its not guaranteed that you'll love it coming from Factorio's depth. Satisfactory might be better, unless if OP is looking for something that's a bit different.

I played it an age ago while it was still in early access so I need to go back, had a lot of fun with it back then already.

Verdict? I loved Dark Project back in the day and Deadly Shadows even more. Would I enjoy 4? Never tried it

It's not like the older thief games. I started playing this when it came out but stopped as I was pissed that it wasn't like the old games. Suppose I had high expectations.

I thought what the hell let me try it again, it was ok. I only played the main 'story' and no side missions. There's not much of a 'story' here. It was fun while playing but not deadly shadows level of fun. At least I can say I finished it.

Have you tried https://www.thedarkmod.com/main/ ?

No but i will now. It looks cool.

And yeah the reason I haven't tried Thi4f is because of the poor to average reviews. They all pretty much say the same that it's not like the older games.
