What happened to Telkom AccessMax

Saw this thread from years ago: Telkom AccessMax???

What ever happened to that?

It is the same as UMC's that are deployed between your premises and the exchange in order to shorten the length of copper cable.

Exchange ---> UMC ---> SDC ----> DP ---> Customer

AccessMax was something like this:

What does UMC stand for?
Is there anyway to convince Telkom to install one of those? Apart from no ports being available at the exchange, they are concerned about my distance (about 5km) from the exchange.

If there is sufficient demand in your area, then yes they will consider it.

I'm moving to Burgundy Estate, they envisage about 6000 residents. There should currently be about 1000 already. And from my other threads, you can see that a lot of people are struggling with Telkom infrastructure.
