Hi everyone,

I'm currently using a Linksys Wireless g router ( Wrt54g3gt ) which has a huawei e 620 plug into a pcmcia slot ( laptop slot ).

Do i need to buy a new router as well as a data card? Can anyone recommend a good one?

Thanks in advance

AFAIK, the new B970 router supports 7.2Mbps HSDPA and HSUPA. Kingrob and Morkhans both have one, maybe they can give you some feedback on it.

Any Vodashopt/4U/Chatz Cellular store can order it in for you. They dont normally keep it in stock because it is a bit of a "niche" item...but ordering it is not a problem. I ordered one for one of my clients and received it the next day so Vodacom has stock....at least they did when I ordered the unit this week. Just ask your closest store to order it in for you.

Order him one :D very nice device

@ Rustic....would you like me to order you one? R2700.00 including VAT including free delivery? Let me know.

Hi Oc,

I live on a farm so delivery will probably be a problem. Are you located in Pretoria?

Hi. I am in Midrand....just around the corner from Vodaworld. Will PM you my email and you can let me know how you would like to proceed. Seeing that you are on a farm I have to ask...Do you have 3G reception there?

Yep currently have excellent signal but i do have a poynting antenna up. :)

First off i'd like to thank Ocleroux for the great service i recieved from him, had my Router deliverd to me the next day :) An absolute pleasure doing Business with companies like yours Corne :)

Then i've got just one question, i installed my modem this morning and everything works great, Upload speed of 1mbps

The only thing i would like to know is is there any way i can get 7.2mbps without going for the broadband advanced option which the guy on the vodacom help line told me is double the price? is that correct? I have a mygig 5 contract atm which costs me R1049 p/m. I rarely go over and need to purshase more bandwidth.

I've tried to google it and i've look on the vodacom4me website for an option under services to enable the advanced broadband but i can't find any pricing or option to do it.

The guy from the helpdesk didn't really sound like he knew what he was talking about, so i just want to check with you guys.

Thanks in Advance

Hello rustic, thank you for the compliment regarding my service levels. Always great when things goes smoothly and you are able to satify a clients needs and expectations. It was a pleasure dealing with you and glad to hear you are enjoying your new equipment.

Regarding the 7.2, you need to subscribe to a Advanced bundle yes and "SoTrue" I see were kind enough to post the link for you. the Standard MyMeg 500 for example is R189 versus the Advanced bundle of R279 = R90.00 difference. If you are on prepaid, then perhaps purchase smallish advanced bundle first and see the speeds you get with your setup and if you are happy and satisfied, then you can move on to the bigger bundles if need be. If you have a contract sim in there, same would apply but ask for a "ad - hoc" bundle....these are once off and do not repeat automatically. You have my email so feel free to contact me if I can assist :-)

Hi Vodacom,

Probably don't need 7.2 but if it only costs me 150p/m more it would be a nice to have for my skype etc, have a lot of family abroad.

I have about 5 people on the network using the 3g at the moment, and at times things seem to take a bit of strain, especially when i'm gaming :D

I bought the new router for better upload speeds for gaming and the ping seems better for some reason, anyway i'm chuffed with it so far.

Thanks for info guys as always, i should have asked here the first time.
