Nah you're just uninformed
Before you learn what a .net developer is, you should probably learn how to use Google :erm:
In our tech-obsessed age everyone is an engineer. Sales Engineer. Domestic Engineer. Even MBAs do business engineering. Seems we're all just cogs in the Great Engine.![]()
I think you guys care too much about titles. They only time it becomes an issue is when a woman asks you "what do you do for a living?". Best to tell her you help orphaned puppies at the SPCA than the truth anyway.
In my clubbing days, saying you worked in finance when asked that question generally killed the conversation, because invariably the next step was to explain what you did, which is a deal breaker (unless the girl is also in finance).
So a mate and I just used to say we were firemen, which wasn't entirely a lie since we were registered volunteer bush fire fighters lol.

In my experience, the only time title matters is when you are being sought after by headhunters - too junior/generic, and you can easily get passed over. Apart from that, the company can call me the Senior Tea Lady (Senior Tea Architect?), as long as the work is interesting and the salary is good.
So... anyone think the OP knows what a .NET developer is now?
