1 day a week is work form home, the rest is office. Boss believes we only work if seen... Old school thinking

After 3 years of WFH we have been told...

'It is expected that you are at the office if you are not visiting a client, for the sake of collaboration.
It is not an instruction, but a request'

This while most of our teams have proven to be more productive working remotely, the office has been downsized which means parking is an issue as well, and teams have changed to the point where we have people in other provinces or even countries on some teams.
And then, when in the office, most people are on Teams calls anyway.

Makes perfect sense

Full time at office, but if you have a semi decent excuse to work from home you can. So I do get to wfh a couple days a month.

Do we work for the same company?

Daily scrum sessions over Teams where over half the people on the call are sitting in the same office (the only people not in the office are the field guys). We even have a fully-kitted boardroom with 75-inch screen and an audio system to facilitate conference calls, but we sit at our own desks with headphones on and speak to someone a few metres away from you. So we are not even using the expensive facilities they set up. After the daily scrum, we barely interact.

Call it what it is; control. Managers just want to see their minions.

Office office offiices and our new one will even have very spiffy new teams rooms ... Yay ?

Sounds so familiar.

Weekend... Working at home for no pay, no leave days and no IOD coverage....
It's damn slavery I tell you.
