What is your mtu set at?

I used the info from this URL below to do MPU tests:

All I changed was the url that was pinged to 196.30.31.100 and other various local URLs for testing.

Just follow the instructions on that page and see what results you get.

My final MTU without fragments was 1372 to which I added the 28 overhead to come to the final setting of 1400

Mine is set at 1392, but by myself, not iBurst :D
 
Tried everything from 1432 down to 576 ... havent seen huge difference in the 1000+ range .... so just set to iBurst recommended default 1352.

BTW I ave. 105 KB/Sec downloading http://www.iburst.co.za/downloads/UTD Windows.zip

Use the above to test UTD <- BS speed as it seems the closest large download to the core iBurst radio network ???
 
nah its 1390 and has been for ages now, you dont understand though, when I hear the words MTU my eyes glaze over and I feel like I'm 2 seconds away from snapping

I hear you slim, this is not about iburst and the best mtu its more about linux and forwarding of packets etc if you have a look at the links i posted. So just trying to get some feedback. Thanks chaps :P
 
Why every system doesn't just implement PMTU is beyond me. Then this BS wouldn't matter anymore...but no we live in the stone age :|
 
Slim why do your eyes glaze when you heat MTU mentioned?

Mine seems to change all the time this morning 1275, now

How important is the MTU setting?

Something strange .... agreed. MTU is nutz.... as to importance ...

VERY important if you have more than one machine connected to the iburst via lan or pc sharing.... typical problems would be ssl sites not working; some sites just not loading etc ... so basically typical iburst problems ... grin
 
strange - at work we have >50 PC sharing i-net. no problems with ssl or smth else.
