What is your solution?

our suggestions for a solution are irrelevant and a waste of time, in case anyone hasnt noticed, there is no problem as far as the ANC are concerned.. and they are the only ones that can make a difference.

opposition in parliament is just a voice, all their suggestions and anything they have to say just gets heckled and the ANC just does the opposite.. the ANC are just too stubborn and are running things their way, the rest of us are just whiners that dont want the country to 'succeed'

If you read the original topic you would notice that your response is completely off topic. The intention is to understand what we would do if we had the opportunity to make a difference - not why we cant make a difference because I think most forumites already accept this.

Doubling police and teacher salaries overnight would be a start. And yes, I know that costs billions.

Doubling the teachers' and police salaries doesnt ensure better education, nor does it root out corruption in the police force. No doubt it would help the teachers and police, but I dont believe it solves the problem.

My 2c...

The ONLY way out of the mess is to educate the people (the masses, the poor, etc) what democracy is. Teach them that you punish bad service delivery by voting for someone else. Teach them that staying away from the booth is effectively giving a vote to the biggest party, and NOT a vote of no confidence as they see it.

How to do this? Well... my idea (and I'm working on it!) is to write songs, and get our local hip-hop artists to perform them. Then maybe also some jazz musicians to capture the older generation... Any more ideas?

Most of the stuff you guys mention/advise here are true, but that still wont solve the problem...Thing main thing is, CAN THEY, OR ARE THEY PREPARED, TO WALK THE WALK?

I did post the obvious (and only real) solution on an earlier posting but the mods. didn't like my suggestion so they have deleted it. What is one to do?

police + teachers :
  • no tax pay
  • double salaries
  • real militant training like isrealie krav maga (no more overweight and unfit cops)

something like that.

Before anything can be accomplished we have to realise that the country isn't and will never be run in a totalitarian fashion again. The sooner we realise this and that we part of the African continent we can move on. My condolences and best wishes to those who wish to find lives elsewhere.

Did someone mention Chairman Mao or Totalitarian Bob as possible solutions?

All that is called for is an attempt at competent and accountable governance, the rest will fall into place. With due respect to the OP, any solution must involve that, hence the moot nature of the thread. My condolences and best wishes to those who cannot recognise this simple fact.
