What local telecoms executives earn

Telkom CEO Reuben September = R 12 827 648
MTN CEO Phuthuma Nhleko = R 19 958 000
Vodacom CEO Pieter Uys = R 10 468 444

Poor bastards, quick, call somebody and tell them about it, or, even better, send an SMS at 80c per SMS.

These are majority PRIVATELY owned companies. So even if they do over charge the customers.. I don't really care because we have a choice to support them or not. :)

However if this was my tax money which a pay a crap loads monthly I wish I could use to buy a house with.. Its an extreeemly different thinking.. Because people in govenment live in luxary with OUR money and we have no choice on that but complain.:mad:

Stoopid question - but what is the restraintive trade payment and why is it so much?

It's another example of the different rules that are applied at the TopSnout Club.

Mere mortals often have a "Restraint of Trade" Clause in a contract, saying that they cannot go work for a competitor/client doing exactly the same job for a specific period. For example if I work for a consulting company doing a job for a client, I cannot be poached to work directly for that client for a period of say 6-12 months.

It would seem that once you get promoted to CEO level you get paid in advance for the months that you would not be able to work should you decide to leave.

This is in the same category as CEO pay which increase as the companies performance worsens. As performance decreases the CEOs job becomes more difficult, ergo the pay increases. Then once performance improves the CEO will get a big bonus for the results. If the CEO gets fired because they couldn't turn the company around they will receive the balance of pay for the remainder of their contract. It's genius it really is...

Ummm. Actually that is your "tax" money. Can you get a land line through anybody else except Telkom? How much would the mobile bosses get as performance bonus if interconnect fees were properly regulated? Let's just call it an ICASA tax and be done with it. Unless you don't want a telephone at all?

Makes me sick.   (3 times!)

Wow you have a choice of ADSL and fixed line providers?

And Telkom's infrastructure was paid for by the taxpayer.

Oi, just lost my breakfast!

Please, lemme get one of these people in a dark alley:D

No matter how cr@ppy the companies' service, how much we b!tch and complain on this forum, it is not going to reduce their "salaries", so just accept it and go on to reading something more relevant.

That applies to all topics on this forum... so we should just take the forum for news articles away then.

I've also always taken that for granted, that if I leave my current employer I can't work for a competitor for a period... but it would be interesting to hear views that if the only job you can get is at a competitor, why you are not allowed to accept it? Constitutional wise, can you be prevented from earning a living by your ex-employer? If so then they need to compensate you for staying at home for that period in order to protect their interests? Like I said, I always just accepted that because I accepted their employment terms and conditions I was bound by that rule, but hey if I have a bond to pay and family to support can they enforce that?

just a question

This may be a stupid question, but...why does the Vodacom MD make more than the CEO?

CEO Salaries

From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

It all depends what they do with their money. People who earn this kind of money can do so much good with it. Sure they get paid a handsome amount for what they do, however are they better people for having it? They are in a position to provide assistance where needed, and no, I'm not talking about giving everyone a handout, but rather lend support to grassroots organization. Also they are extremely well connected and can use their connections to improve communities at large around them. People who are these positions are able to do a lot more to help out than the average Joe in the street, however sometimes you find the average Joe doing more with less to assist where needed. My idea is to use what you need, keep a little bit for what you want and look for ways to use the rest to help out along the way.

MTN CEO Phuthuma Nhleko = R 19 958 000
Vodacom CEO Pieter Uys = R 10 468 444

My salary is not far short of this  its only +/- R 10.something (too tired to do the maths) short of Uys' salary!!!:sick::sick:

And I guess Vodacom's CEO is going be kicking the dog stukkend when he gets home tonight  I mean how can MTN earn more?
