What makes a video game difficult?

I find that most games need to have a certain level of difficulty otherwise people loose interest. I am a player of many different styles of games; strategy , fps, dota style, etc. I recently bought "burn zombie burn" for the PS3 and without a doubt it is one of the most difficult and pain staking games around. The idea is to kill zombies on a field. You have guns and fire and there are lots of zombies and they dont stop. Now I think I am pretty good at strategies but in this game not. This game is the most ridiculously difficult game I have played in a long.

Style is a bit weak, but hardly disastrous.

Her writing has improved since last I saw. Her articles are generally terrible choice, try too hard to be funny and are written like a 16 year old who thinks they know everything. She got a real blasting in the public comments and maybe that shook her up to at least try and be professional in her writing.

Still not worthy of myBB front page... but then again alot of myBB shouldnt be front page.

Some of you okes are really mean. Give the chick a break. She's learning, and she is improving. Who knows, perhaps in the future you'll be coming here specifically because you enjoy her articles

Personally, I didn't find the article to be the global catastrophe some of you seem to think it is. While the subject matter of this particular article was admittedly not worthy of the "front page", and while the article could have been more engaging, the writing within the article employs an obvious wide vocabulary in an amusing and entertaining manner. Given time, I'm confident the former points will be improved upon.

I think her articles are of an acceptable calibre TBH, what don't you like about them?

I've often thought of her articles of the quality of a private blog, rather than the views of a professional journalist. Though this article isn't quite the type that I normally dislike.

I think we should worry less about what makes a game hard, and more about how short they are. Most SP games nowadays only last a few hours, maybe a day.

Still, COD4 wasn't too bad on veteran, chilling by the buildings works very well on the ferris wheel level. Only other one I had issues with was that final bonus mission on the plane - THAT was hard. Took me about a week to do it.

Good article with an interesting angle IMHO. Ive read a lot of gaming stuff and cant remember off hand one analysing the AI and difficulty angle. It has room for more detail.
