What makes gamers aggressive?

Can't remember when I was legitimately frustrated at a game, maybe Prototype (singleplayer, a very annoying boss battle). My ADSL dropping at the worst times in a game pushes me to the edge though. Whatever happens in a multiplayer game (as long as it's legit and not exploiting or cheating) is fine with me. I've learned to deal with it over the past 10 years or so.

If you get "mad" often in online games then you probably have issues.

Also, there are other games other than MOBA available. When I do play DOTA2 it's with everyone muted in my team. Can't complain.

5 man stacks in Dota2 that are too bloody scared to play a clan game but instead goes into a pub game and think they are the best.

Also, people who hate on someone when the "n00b" hero gets picked at the start knowing full well they probably would've taken that hero had he not been picked- I only play random drafts, if the player picking is a n00b for picking that hero, then pwn him and take it from there.

This. Most "noob" heros are easy to counter with things like sentries or dust, but of course everyone chooses 5 carries and refuse to purchase team helping items.

Internet lag is the only thing that causes me to swear and lose control. Used to punch the table and walls when it happens. I stopped playing online games and am a much more relaxed and calmer person since.

Lag. Never rustles my jimmies more than latency lag.

I have to say that for the longest time now I haven't had a baddie in my Dota 2 games in a long while. Although I still find it puzzling that people queue for SA when that is by far the worst server to queue for if you outside of the region. Mostly South Americans that mistake it for their region, but sometimes you get others. Good thing you can check ping and dodge the game before loading is done!

I'd have to say that the game itself does not make me angry. Even Dark Souls where you can die for one misstep I just load up again and continue as normal. But one thing that really makes me flip my lid, as some others have also said, is bad internet. I already have a very suspect connection so I always check ping before queuing for a game, but there's nothing worse than doing good in say Dota, when all of the sudden your internet goes to **** and you can't play at all. Knowing you can do something in a situation, knowing that if you your connection didn't piss itself you could have won the fight, there is nothing more infuriating.

It has to be experienced to be properly understood. Usually they do the following:

  1. join SA (English language) servers then promptly refuse to speak English (note: not "can't" speak English, simply "refuse" to)
  2. proceed to play with all the skill of a brainless 3 year old disregarding teamwork and common sense (e.g. runs almost gleefully into death over and over and disregards all team member's requests for help)
  3. when advice and suggestions are given by teammates on how to avoid the repetitive game-ruining death-spree the Russian will suddenly proceed to then use English so that you can understand the 5 minute stream of swear words and insults you are about to receive
  4. as the team is placed further onto the backfoot with more Russian deaths the Russian will then begin blaming everyone else for the upcoming loss with accompanying swearing and insults aimed at the entire team
  5. then when the game is looking like a certain loss the Russian will simply leave the game, abandoning his team

I don't know if there is something in the water over in Russia but their dota players are rude, obnoxious and unwilling to work in a team. The only Russian speaking people I've met in dota2 that are decent people were Ukrainians. This behaviour isn't restricted to the kids either. At least you can understand this behaviour coming from children. The guys that do this are old enough to know better.

Yeah okay, completely justified.

I guess you can run private servers but you shouldn't have to put in that effort.

Why do they target SA / English servers ? For the love of trolling ?

They don't target SA servers, they just queue for all servers. Most of them do this for quicker queue times.

I don't think you quite understand the mindset. It's not about LAG or delay for them, they just want to find a game. If that is your only goal, then your best option is to select all servers and languages when you queue.

But like I said, you don't run into them that often, or at least I don't. And in the 1/100 games that I do, I just disconnect before the loading is done if I know the person has 500+ ping, which you can check in console.

I live in Ireland and play on the South African DOTA 2 server from time to time. I play on the Western European servers when I'm by myself, but when I'm on with my friends back in South Africa I play on the SA server so that only I have to deal with ping.

Most games its fine, but some games it spazzes out haflway through. THAT drives me freaking nuts.

This is what makes me mad in Dota 2.

-Los border hopping burritos on SA servers. To become a burrito yourself, do the following :
Step 1 : Feed
Step 2 : Call gg
Step 3 : Proceed to call your team names in Spanish. Puta, pendejo, cabron, pinche idiota, uste una mierda etc etc. (I learned to swear in spanish quite well when I was living in the states, so communication with these people wasn't a problem).
Step 4 : Say your team is noob in all chat, so that everybody can see your frustration.

-People who have no idea how lineups work. These guys are playing at 4.2k+ mmr and have absolutely no clue what to pick/ban vs the enemy team supposed lineup. I snatch captain whenever I can, but sometimes not quick enough.

-Those people who call gg when they get owned early game. Makes my blood boil.

- People who pick noob ass heroes and think they are good because they are fking everyone up.

- Team members who pick 2 junglers (I kid you not)

You must be playing in a low bracket.
