A damning report placing Lance Armstrong at the heart of the biggest doping programme in sporting history has raised questions about what happens next, with the seven-time Tour de France winner's career and reputation in tatters.

How Armstrong, who is accused of but has consistently denied systematic doping, managed to evade detection will also dog the sport of cycling, which has sought to improve its image after a series of damaging drug scandals.

I've been a supporter of him for years, but with all the new reports out now I'm not too sure any more!

Could he really have fooled everyone after all these years? Will we ever get to know the real truth?

Ummm dude he cheated, it's fairly obvious he cheated.

They have so much evidence against him. He is a cheat that fooled everyone. They should legalize the use of banned substances so everyone can go mad. Always something people use to gain an advantage so make it legal and let them battle it out on a level playing field.

Im also fairly certain he is guilty, but then so is every other rider on the tour.
He is still an amazingly gifted athlete who i admire greatly. Even so, they should go after him with everything they have.

Unless they actually get un-refutable proof that he doped, it will never really be conclusive.
I don't know why Leipheimer and Hincapie went against him, so not commenting on them, but almost all the other guys that testified against him have either a)been offered deals, b)been coerced into testifying against him or c)disliked him for whatever reason.

True - I guess we will never know. All have his samples have still been negative though which throws a spanner in the works. (Barring the one A sample, where the B sample was negative)

Maybe we will never know the real truth or the real extent.
It could all just be a witch hunt... or there could be some truth to the matter.
It's not that hard to hide evidence, and it's not that hard to manufacture evidence.
Who really knows.
The real loser here is Sport.

Dude he was involved in a much bigger way than we know.

I cannot believe 25 people have it out for them, i also cannot believe they are going after him because they dislike him.

Cheaters always get caught, gary you call it a witch hunt but offer no explanation as to why they are hunting him.

They are going after him to prove he was not legit, they want him because they have a solid case against him. I never thought that until i read the article i posted and it seems to me they have so much evidence and so many testimonies that the witch hunt theory doesn't make sense anymore.

Go after him because he fooled everyone and cheaters generally slip up.

I don't get it.
All teams were doping. Most of the top boys were doping.

Lance just never got caught, while others did.

Lance was shooting up... no s**t! so was everyone else.

Does that detract from his achievements. Not in my eyes in as much as everyone else was doping, and it was still doper vs doper on the hills of the Tour de France. A great spectacle.

If he was the only one then by all means push him off the cliff and strip him of his titles, but that is not the case.
So unless we detract from all previous achievements from all winners and participants when doping first began (?) in cycling, then perhaps people are just looking for a convenient scapegoat or to play out old grudges.

This whole thing has become one big joke.

I must say I tend to agree with these two points. It is a real tragedy, sure. Doping is tainting sport, especially cycling (or maybe cycling is just getting more noticed at the moment). And it has become a joke. I fall way short of getting excited about cricket because of the match fixing scandals that have tainted it over the years. I think that is far worse than doping but all of a sudden, doping is the new white horse that all the knights have chosen to charge down. For the sportspeople who DO NOT dope, I can understand the annoyance - they are not competing on a level playing field. Beyond that, why go so far with Lance? Criminal charges? FFS...

I really thought that this whole saga was being blown out of proportion. Those top guys are ALL doping. But, since it's come to light that he lied under oath so that he could get a $5 million bonus pay out after winning 6 tour de frances he deserves to be punished now.

The $5 million bonus was paid out based on assurances that he definitely had never taken performance enhancing drugs. He lied and should be forced to pay back the $5 million and a little jail time might be in order as well.

Regarding his 7 TDF victories I still think he was the best, regardless of what drugs he was on. All the top guys are doping and the ones that aren't are just better at hiding it. If nobody was using anything illegal then I think he still would have won.

Killa, JudgeVoo is done and dusted. He was a hack, a fraud, a complete...oh wait, wrong thread...
