Even a life ban isnt enough, all sponsorship deals and prize money should have the clause "if caught doping, you are paying it all back".

Not sure on the pro wrestlers, but if you let cyclists EPO themselves (amongst other things) as much as they want, there will be deaths. The sport is extremely demanding on the body. I dont think there are many other sports that can put that kind of strain for that long on the athlete. And you know the mentality of these guys, they are never say die hardcore must win kinds of people. I think they will dope as much as their doctor says they can, and then still do more behind their backs.

You are probably right except for one thing: I am never-say-die hardcore must finish 2kms. And having said that, I haven't been on my bicycle for months now - growing a belly first.


How are these guys doping that it is not detectable? Surely testing in this day and age should be improved and advanced enough that it is difficult to dupe? And if that is the case, sponsors should pay out in the first place until all doubts are eliminated. It really is a disaster for the sport. I know I couldn't care less about it these days.

Unfortunately that's the biggest thing of it all, and the sport is suffering.

Makes you wonder about all the greats - Indurain, Le Mond, Hinault, Finon - were any of them using?

Yeah, I've never been a huge cycling fan, but I tune into the Tour every year because of it's stature, because of the battles in the mountain... now not as much.

It's sad for the sport of cycling, and those in the sport who are attempting to take down Lance need to realise that the sport will suffer a lot more that Lance.

One also has to acknowledge GreGorGuy's point about those who don't or haven't doped. Must be pretty pi$$ed at what has gone down. But of course the question is; out of the top competing big name teams, were there any that weren't using?

it is because the likelihood is that the better doctors are in private practice. they are paid more and have more resources. therefore the doctors developing tests to catch doping will always be playing catch up. and given that it is unlikely a doctor who has previously been doping will switch over to a tester, that gap will likely always exist.
